We had a fight today and she is giving me the silent treatment, how can I get her to talk?
I am not even going to bother saying that it was her fault, because in reality its not going to get me any where.Meanwhile I am stuck with the problem that my gf is giving me the silent treatment and it is a very powerful technique that is making me feel guilty maybe for no reason.
How do I approach her, should I bring flowers in my hand and get to talk. I have tried just talking and it does not work.
This sounds like passive aggression. In my experience straight aggression (eg. shouting at her) never wins against passive aggression.
Likewise crawling to her (eg. flowers) gives her passive aggression positive reinforcement. In the future she will talk to you even less!
Fight fire with fire. Passive aggression calls for passive aggression. Basically if you pull back from her she won't feel stifled, plus her silent manipulation won't work. Eventually she will come after you.
Wouldn't you like her to give YOU flowers?
PS. My sister (who did a Psych degree) says you should act really happy around her and ignore her silence. Hum merrily while doing whatever it is you do.
