i am painting tools and the paint keeps peeling off?

im painting my tools like sockets and wrenches so i can tell if there mine or not. i have a latex enamel paint that says its for wood metal and more. it keeps peeling off of it. its only been about a day does it need longer to dry on good or is it just not going to work?

The tools you describe are usually chromed so getting any type of paint to stick to them will be nearly impossible.
Using a metal etch primer first would probably enable the paint to stay on longer butwould still wear off with use.
Only sure way of identification is to get hold of an engraving tool.
