Spring Compressor

Spring Compressors???

I am doing some work on my 87 Trans Am. I had to change the A-Frame, Strut and all that good stuff. Now I want to put it all back to gather but the spring isn't compressed enough to get the strut bolted back on to the A-Frame. I went on JCWhitney.com and found a macpherson strut coil spring compressor. Is that what I need? I never did this type of work before. What are some real stores that I can I buy this type of tool or is getting it online my best bet? That is exactly what you need!! You could also try Harbor Freight if you have one near you ,but the one at JC Whitney actually looks like it might be a little better built!! If you need more help let me know!! Jason
If the spring is already in and you are putting the shock in next all you should have to do is put a jack under the a-arm and jack it up (as long as you have the spring set and bolted into place) the spring will compress and you will be able to install the shock! if it is the spring that you can not get in then get the tool that you found and use it!!
