Organizing Garage Supplies
If your garage is messy, with tools and supplies strewn all over the place, you might want to consider organizing your garage tools. This process might be time consuming, but it will save you time and make your garage a better place to work in.
Keeping your garage tools and garage accessories organized will not only tidy up your workplace, but it will make your tasks less tiresome. You'll be able to find the right tools when you need them. Below are ways in which you can manage your garage equipment.
The first thing you need to do is to dispose of those things you don't use or need. If you haven't used a tool in a year, chances are you don't need it, unless it is a specialized or expensive tool that you really may use in the future. Useless tools take up precious space. When you're finished taking out unwanted tools, think of a way to rethink your work shop in such a way that you can move easily around in it.
You can use a stand-alone yard tool organizer to keep rakes, shovels, hoes and other yard tools. A stand-alone organizer can store many more tools than a wall-mounted one. In this way, you'll be able to keep all bulky yard tools in one corner of your garage or work shop.
If you have free wall space, you can use wall pegboards to hold small tools. There are different tool holders designed for the pegboard that hold different forms of tools. This might not be the most attractive solution, but the tools will be completely visible and easy to find.
Tool storage compartments can also be used keep garage tools arranged. Hand tools such as hammers, wrenches, drill bits, and screwdrivers can be put in this kind of organizer for tools. Tool cabinets come in different designs and sizes. The more expensive ones have better drawer sliding mechanisms and are fashioned of thicker gauge materials.
Use containers with small drawers for smaller tools and specialty equipment; as well as spare parts, such as nails and bolts. Storing small tools in these containers will remove clutter from your work table, and shelves.
For other equipment and supplies, you can use bins and wire spools. Part bins may be used to sort supplies, while still keeping them out in the open where they are noticeable. The bins are usually heavy duty and each is able to hold a specific weight in parts or fasteners.
Tool boxes can be used to organize your various sets of specialty tools, such as electrical tools or finish carpentry tools. There are big storage boxes of plastic available to hold plumbing parts or electrical materials such as cables and wires. A labeled box on an open shelf can organize a set of tools for a specialty kind of work, such as installing door locks.
These are just some ways to arrange your shop tools or garage tools and keep your area clutter-free when working on a project. Try these tips now to have a more efficient and neat garage. Working there will be a lot more of a pleasure when your garage equipment and supplies are in order and kept in their proper places.

Which specific tools would you need to become a diesel mechanic?
Im currently studying to be a general mechanic but plan on continuing on to be a diesel mechanic. I'm not too sure what field i'd like to work on whether it be automotive diesel, light/medium trucks, or industrial trucks. I have an outline of what my tool set would consist of as a regular mechanic but want to start planning what I would need if I were to work the light/medium or industrial truck category. What size drive tools.... 3/4 or 1 inch? I have mostly metric sizing, to what extent would I need to invest in standard size sockets and wrenches? How much lbs. of force would I need out of my impact tools? I know there is a broad variety of specialty tools that vary by manufacturer make. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated.
