concerning my English Springer Spaniel?
My Grandpa handed down a feild champion english springer spaniel, Socket. Hes 9 years old, so he is retired from the field. Im wondering if anyone can give me some hints to help me get him used to being inside more, when he was with my grandpa he was always out in the kennel 24/7, with time to run around, i let him outside for a pretty long time and he jsut waits at the door to come back inside, also another thing is that he is constantly panting when he is not even hott, or tired out (just been sitting with me) also, another thing is that he will only eat out of my hands for his dog food. I would really really appreciate your time in answering with some helpful pointers.

Well the panting could be nerves or something else. Has he been seen by a vet lately? Sometimes it's an early sign of a heart problem. Or it could just be he wants to go back to what he's use to. Was he a working dog is that what you mean by retired? or was a breeding dog? if a working dog try to simulate his former life as much as you can. maybe he just misses it. dogs like a schedule and don't like to change it. As far as the feeding its tough is that how he was fed before or is he not hungry because he doesnt feel well? I guess there are just too many questions. dogs usually won't starve if you left the food in a bowl he will eventually eat it. but if he can't smell it or isn't feeling well he may just not be interested in eating.
