Looking for a ginger snap cookie recipe?
Hi.
I am looking for a ginger snap cookie recipe that has the texture of the ones you buy in the store. All of the recipes I have are for cakey or chewy type cookies.
I'd like to make true snaps, break a tooth on em crisp

I love to cook, and I promise these recipes are fabulously delicious and wonderfully CRISP!
~CHARLOTTE'S GINGERSNAPS~
Ingredients:
1 c. sugar
1 c. hard Crisco
1 c. dark molasses
1 T. ground allspice
1 T. ground ginger
1 T. soda in
4 T. boiling water
2 c. flour or more
Directions:
1. Mix sugar and lard until light.
2. Add the molasses, allspice and ginger.
3. Stir in the soda and water and flour.
4. Roll as thin as possible and cut.
5. Place on greased baking sheet.
6. Bake in preheated 375 degree F. oven for about 6-7 minutes watching carefully!
7. Cool slightly and remove from baking sheet.
~THE BASS HOUSE GINGERSNAPPERS~
Ingredients:
1 c. butter
1/2 c. dark Karo syrup
1 c. sugar
2 t. cinnamon
4 t. cloves
6 t. ginger
1&1/2 t. baking soda
4 c. flour
Directions:
1. Combine 1/2 c. water, Karo, sugar, cinnamon, cloves and ginger in a smal pan and bring to a boil.
2. Pour mixture over butter in a large bowl and stir until cool.
3. Mix flour and baking soda. Gradually add to spice mixture and stir well.
4. Put in refrigerator overnight or longer.
5. Divide dough into 6-8 parts.
6. Roll out each part very thin.
7. Cut with glass top into round shape.
8. Place on cookie sheet and bake in preheated 375 degree F. oven for 6-7 minutes.
9. Cool slightly and remove from baking sheet.
