I have tested three cars and it has pulled all codes that were in the computer. You will need to buy a good rs 232 to usb cable if you want to hook it to your computer because I doubt you have a rs 232 port on your computer. Mine did not need to be updated.

Great item, perfect for the Do-It-Yourselfer

I bought this to take the place of my outdated MAC scanner. It does a nice job of showing live data and engine codes. Very easy to use button are large unlike some other scanners. The scanner comes with a nice assortment of adapters to use on many vehicles. If you are looking for a nice scanner, but don't want to spend an arm and a leg this scanner is for you.

Some disappointment in company

This seems to be a very good product. HOWEVER if you are a APPLE computer user they do not have the software for you. They only have discs for PC, now that really is pathetic for a company to do. How hard is it for them to get their act together to have a product that you can use either MAC or PC? Using the scanner itself seems great but am unable to use my computer. BEWARE to all buyers that their discs only work on PC's.

Bought used it and found the problem with my car and fixed it thanks to the koer test.
Worked on OBD1

The scanner worked on a 94 Chrysler minivan like it said for OBD1.Was able to read fault codes and erase codes as per directions.Also was able to do freeze frame data on a 2001 Dodge 2500 full size van. After downloading it to the scanner,was able to bring scanner in the house and read it on my laptop. So far I have no complaints about the scanner. Also was able to do the updated download from the web site to keep it up to date. Even has on-line help if you don't understand certain fault codes. And has a very extensive list of fault codes. Happy so far.
