Sae Size
Sae Size

Helicoil question. I have a head bolt has odd bolt size of 7M x 115 threads. I cannot find a HeliCoil kit..?
The threads are in an aluminum crankcase and I need to use the speacial head bolts. My question is, Can I buy in SAE sized Heli Coil and then also change the threads on the Head bolt that I am keeping. Switching both threads to a similiar sized SAE size. What size would that be if I have 7M x 115 threads currently. Sorry for long question!
I have repaired them this way. For your bolt I would use a 7/16ths", or possibly 1/2" if space permits, and drill and tap the hole oversize. Then make a threaded plug from aluminum to fill the bad hole. Use loctite to install the plug, cut it flush with the deck surface, then drill and tap for the 7mm threads. What you are doing is kind of making your own helicoil repair. Use coarse threads for the aluminum plug.
