HELP! Bed Bugs, Roaches (diff sizes)!! -- How to get rid of them?
We have called a professional service and 1st time they sprayed something, we actually noticed an increase in these bugs!
Then, they changed the carpets. Yet, bugs remain. Seems like they were reduced (maybe)!
In the kitchen, we noticed a lots of roaches (varying sizes) that show up as we shut off the light during night and there are bed bugs that show up in the beds during late nights!
They told us to spray Boric powder all over and vacuum after leaving it for few hours. We have not yet done it!
What are other "effective" ways to tackle this situation?
Thanks in advance!
What kind of fogger's can be used in the apartment?
Where do I get those Raid roach bombs?
The service I mentioned is provided by the Apartment folks -- they replaced the carpet and sprayed a couple of times.
I recently found an infestation of bed bugs in one of the beds in my house. The only thing you can do for them is get a professional treatment. But you have to prepare for the service yourself, meaning a lot of work. Bag up all blankets, pillows, clothing, curtains, etc, in the room where the bed bugs are found. Keep them bagged until the treatment and then wash them all in hot water and DRY on HIGH HEAT, the heat will kill the bugs in the items.
Vacuuming, this helps too. Just remember to change/emtpy the bag after every room or you will run the risk of dropping them in other places. Not excessive vacuuming, just once a week. Also throw out any old mattresses, they are obviously doing you no good, just breeding more infestations. Don't bring any new bedding into the house unless it is still in the plastic bag with NO holes, or purchase a plastic zipper bag specially made for mattresses.
This is an EXPENSIVE treatment, and a lengthy process, ONE spraying does NOT kill all of the bugs and their eggs. In fact it will only kill the currently hatched bugs, the eggs are not effected. You need to have the treatment repeated multiple times to kill all the new hatched eggs. For us, we are using Terminix and it cost us $300 for the first treatment and they will continue to come out and spray once a month for 11 months, this will cost $60 each time. This is done in the entire house.
[EDIT]
If this is really an APARTMENT you are talking about you NEED to go to your landlord. The reason why you can't get rid of them is probably because they are crawling, or hitching their way in via ANOTHER apartment in your building. Try over and over, but they will keep coming back because the source of the problem was not attacked. I may be misunderstanding, but seriously, if you are in an apartment with bedbugs, go to your landlord, they SHOULD tackle this immediately.
