Do all OBD II diagnostic scanners work with OBD I Adapters?
I know there are tons of different diagnostic scanners, interfaces, code reader starting from 50$ to really dang expesive ones like the Auto Boss and Launch. My question is, do most mid priced hand held scannes like the Acron, Autel Maxi diag, Equus work with OBD I adapters?? or wat do i need to look for??I have asked the manufacturers and couldnt get a direct answer...... Please technicians and Mech help out an aspiring mechanic.... thanxx
Some OBDII scanners DO come with OBDI adapters, check for one advertised as OBD 1 and 2 compatible. The Equus Innova 3120 and 3140 models support both protocols, with OBD1 adapters for Ford, GM, Chrysler, and Toyota included. (They are $250 and $325, roughly). I use a 3140, and am relatively happy with it, however, it does NOT support ABS and airbag codes. The OTC Nemisys (also the MAC Taskmaster, same unit in a different case) will do all this AND the ABS/airbag stuff, but goes for around $1000......
