where can I get a kit to operate a gas furnace while there is no AC (blackout) without a generator +swithboard
something as a battery pack (DC) to operate the control system, thermostate and main gas shut off valve (I know I can installa generator and a switchboard on the mains...that's way too expensive)
Since you probably have a forced air furnace that uses AC power for the blower, it probably also has transformer for the DC connections.
You can build a bank of 12VDC batteries and run a inverter off of them.
Find out what the total wattage is required to run the transformer, blower and thermostat. Then add at least 10%. Purchase a dc to ac inverter (Fairly inexpesive these days.) Then build up a bank of 12Volt Batteries (Better to use Golf Cart Batteries than car batteries, they have a higher AMP Hour rating than car batteries.) You then connect these in Parallel. (See link Below.)
Then place an automatic charger on the battery bank to keep the charge up when electricity is running. You will need to install a switch between the battery circuit and home electrical circuit so you can run off the batteries when you lose power.
