Help! my garage door is stuck open because my boyfriend pulled the safty cord, how do you fix it?

We spent half an hour messing with the cord, trying to get it to close the door. The motor comes on and moves the pulley thing but the garage door will not budge! Please help!

when you pull the cord you trip a lever it's tied to,reach up and shove the lever back up,that's all,then run the door
