How to make a Hi-Hat on a drum set quieter...?
So i have silencers for my enter drum set, even my cymbals. But my hi hat, even with the mute, still rattles alot. How can I fix this? Are the two hi hat 'plates' not tight enough together? My hihat mute is a bit too big...should I cut it?
Also, my Ride has a tiny crack in it, extending from the edge inwards about an inch. Should I play it softer because of this? Will the crack grow in time?

Yes the crack will grow...get a new ride when you get the money. as for the hi-hat...if you're playing on the edge of it, then it will make a louder sound so hit the top of the hi-hat...if that's not quiet enough for you then keep your foot on the pedal of the hi-hat while you play...unless you already do that, but you should be using that pedal...unless you have a double bass pedal...
