Drive Shallow

Can you drive an suv over shallow spots in the Rio Grande?

Just out of curiosity

I live in Texas and have crossed it (legally) myself a few times several years ago.

It is wide and deep in some spots as the other person said, but it's also a lot drier than most people expect too. Near the Gulf coast, it runs almost completely dry several miles before reaching the Gulf of Mexico, so yes, you "could" drive across the Rio Grande, however, since it is also the US/Mexico border, you will not be "permitted" to do so. There are also places in Big Bend National park where there are crossing points when it is dry.
