is it safe for a medium sized dog to have dew claws, double dews, extra toes whathaveyou?
If it is, what is the age where they are too old due to pain or complications?
The problem with dews is that they have a greater risk in becoming caught in something and having the dog rip their nail. The vet I used to work for would do the dews and tail docks(breed depending) at the same time, within the first day or so of life. At such a young age the pups do fine. Mama's have more of a problem with it so we would walk her outside while the pups were being done.
If it is an older dog I would leave them unless they are causing problems for the dog, or if he is going to be having surgery or a dental where he will be anesthetized they can be removed then.
