How to re-sync a distributor?

I have a 1980 Vette with a standard 350 in it, and recently replaced the carb and intake manifold.
Obviously to get the intake manifold off, the distributor had to come off too.

Bring number one cylinder to top dead center. Once that is done place the distributor in where the rotor tab is facing the the number one stamp (1) on the intake manifold. The firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
