how do i change a crank sensor on a 99 chevy s-10?
it has a 2.2litre 4 popper with a 5 speed manual. Code pulled as crank sensor, but the sensor from the parts store doesn't match anything I can find under the hood. Haynes book says it's by the DIS and the parts store computer says its by the hyramonic balancer, but I don't see it. Am I blind?
the parts store computer is wrong.if it was a 4.3L engine it would have been by the harmonic balancer in the timing cover.
since yours is a 2.2L engine it's located on the right side of the engine just below the coil pack.
there are three sensors on the right side, cam sensor which is higher than the other two. then there is the crank sensor right next to the knock sensor towards the bottom.
now the rest is easy. remove & replace.
