What is the name of a locking joint, the plate/plate meshing type that would hold an adjustable angle?

I've seen this type of joint on a snowboard binding for adjusting the angle, or on an adjustable desk lamp, I'm looking for one a bit stronger/larger then what you'd find on a desk lamp.

older type beach umbrellas had them so u could adjust to different angles if u could find one u may be able to take it off. as for the name of it sorry no idea,have u tried the hardware store?
