Need help with hardwood floor prep?
Just purchased our first house, a fixer upper. We are redoing the floors because they had old cheap rotted carpet mixed with plastic ( not laminate ) type wood floors. The floors were laid with adhesive. We have them all up now but I am left with a gluey mess ( ridges, lines and blobs ), not to mention several "potholes" where the adhesive took up some layers of the subfloor. I was going to do 1/4" luwan as a covering, but now im wondering if I need plywood, sanders or will the luwan still work? Anyone have any ideas how to prep the floors for a quality finished product? THANKS in advance!!
Yes its just a plywood subfloor. Sander is a no go for sure wayyy to much glue. Install a new subfloor meaning new plywood over the old stuff?
cut to the chase, and save headaches, by just installing a subfloor.
