How do water bore holes work . ( specifics needed see details box)?

Another way of getting the water up might be a piston-less pump. (These keep much of the equipment on the surface, potentially making maintenance easier)
Attach a one way valve to a pipe, so that it allows liquid into the pipe, but not out. Place this pipe into the bore hole. Assemble a thinner pipe with a one way valve arranged the same way, and place that inside the larger pipe.
Use some kind of coupling to allow air to enter/leave the outer pipe, but allow the inner pipe to poke out the top.
If the one-way valves are below the liquid level in the well, then water will enter the pipes. If compressed air is introduced into the outer pipe, it will push the water though the one way valve, into the inner pipe, and when enough has entered the inner pipe, up to the surface. Simply alternate pressuring/depressurising with air to "pump".
It works in a similar way to squirting water with drinks cartons. You carefully pierce the cover with a straw, and blow down it. When you remove the straw from your mouth the pressure difference blows the drink up the straw.

Correct use of ratchet type handbrake on a car.?
Why do driving instructors teach learner drivers to pull up a ratchet handbrake by pressing in the button? This over extends the brake(making it less efficient) and in my case is contra to drivers manual.
Speaking as ca driving instructor it all depends on the car you are driving. Instructors will usually follow he instructions given in the vehicle handbook, which will vary between different models in a manufacturers range, i.e. the previous model Fiesta Ford state that the button should be depressed when applying the handbrake but in the Focus they say pull the handbrake up sharply without pressing the button.
I dare say there will be some older instructors who are set in their ways as pretty much all cars a few years ago the manufacturers recommended depressing the button when applying the handbrake. It has nothing to do with finding the ratchet noise annoying.

Dispensing Adhesives With Hand Pumps Reduces Cost
Threadlockers and Thread Sealants
Threaded fastener loosening is one of the major causes of industrial equipment failure and the resulting unscheduled downtime costs industry millions of dollars each year. Threaded fasteners set and hold tolerances on assemblies ranging from light duty equipment to heavy machinery. To increase the reliability of this equipment many threadlocking methods have been developed, yet none exhibit the level of performance of anaerobic threadlocking and thread sealing adhesives.
Threadlocking and thread sealing adhesives have become one of the most reliable and inexpensive ways to ensure that a threaded assembly will remain locked and leak proof. Applied drop-wise to fastener threads, these adhesives fill the grooves of the threads and cure to a hard thermoset plastic when fastener is assembled exposing the adhesive to metal ions in the absence of air - therefore they are also called anaerobic adhesives.
Threadlockers are available in low strength formulations for easy removal, medium strength grades that can be removed using common hand tools, and high strength formulations that offer the highest holding abilities. Bolts that have previously been locked with a threadlocker can be re-used by removing the old adhesive.
Dispensing Metal Adhesives Manually
Typically anaerobic metal adhesives are made available in special purpose plastic bottles. The bottles are approximately half filled with adhesives. The unfilled space contains air that keeps the material stable and some suppliers, such as Loctite®, actually developed special bottles that are slightly air-permeable, allowing air to pass through the bottle to further ensure product stability before usage.
Most users apply threadlockers directly out of their original packaging. With manual dispensing straight from the bottle, the volume of the adhesive dispensed is controlled by the operator. The bottle must be tipped so that a drop of threadlocker will be released from the bottle and placed by gravity onto the fastener.
Common challenges related to bottle dispensing include excessive dispensing of the adhesive where too much is applied, and applying the adhesive in tight locations where the bottle cannot be tipped for drop-wise application.
Hand Pumps Minimize Waste
A simple and effective solution is to use a low-cost hand pump unit that can be installed onto the bottle-top. Hand pumps are positive displacement dispensing systems, which by definition is the volumetric displacement of fluid. A positive displacement system is unaffected by external variables and is therefore very repeatable under changing conditions such as temperature and viscosity. The variables that affect positive displacement dispensing are stroke, bore, and or rotation. By pressing a trigger, the dispensing wheel is turned and an exact quantity of the product is transported through the tube to the applicator needle. Most hand-pump designs include an adjusting screw to set the stroke on the trigger. With this it is possible to control the quantity of adhesive to be applied very accurately.
A leading adhesive manufacturer provides hand-pumps for use with its products. These manual systems will dispense threadlockers, thread sealants, and retaining compounds from 0.01 to 0.4 ml, and in viscosity's up to 30,000 cPs. They work at any angle, won't leak, and eliminate waste. In addition, they require no flushing, power, or air source.

We have lived together almost two years. Our house looks like a bachelor pad/college dorm room. I'm not saying I want to turn the place into a princess palace or anything, all I'm asking is to live in a GROWN UP house.
We are both in our thirties, and I really want to have a cool place that we both enjoy, are happy to come home to and are not embarrassed to show out friends.
For goodness sake...how do I convince him that this broken, swivel, 80's style, grandpa, recliner, chair has to go? I've already offered to buy him a new awesome chair to replace it but it was a no-go. What do I do about all his old stained t-shirts? What about his dresser (WITH MOLD ON THE BACK)?
How do I replace his stuff without being "THAT GIRL"?

Is my fish going to die?
I asked a question awhile ago about my serpae tetra. Basically it swims really frantically at an angle, and when it gets to the surface it gulps a bit of air, then sinks back down. I thought it might have been swim bladder, but some of my other fish have had that, and they ended up dying after a few days. This fish has been doing this for weeks
Ive done a water test and thats all fine.
The vast majority of fish die if the swim bladder goes. How long it takes for them to kick the bucket depends on how severe the rupture is; a fish with a slow rupture can go on like it indefintely and it's death is more usually caused by assault by other fish because it is so vulnerable.
The rare few come back from it often go that way again at some point further down the road.
I've never known a fish to survive it a second time.
