Valve Stem

How easy is it for a valve stem on a tire to break? What is involved in fixing this and is it costly?
We had brand new tires put on three weeks ago and we got home from out of town a couple days ago and had a flat tire. We had it looked at and they said that the valve stem is broken so it won't hold any air. The guy that looked at it said that he is 80-90% sure that it happened when the new tires were installed on the vehicle. The guys who we bought the tires from and who installed them were real jerks to us and did not provide very good customer service. My husband didn't take their crap and said some things back to them. So I was wondering if they couldn't have done it on purpose or if valve stems tend to break easily.
could have been broke at the tire shop or if you hit a curb with the tire right on the valve stem, they will have to take the tire off the car and break the tire down to replace the valve stem, they usually charge $3.50 for a valve stem plus whatever they charge to break the tire down.

Autonomic Dysfunction and Mitral Valve Prolapse Syndrome: Putting it all together
The autonomic nervous system (ANS) controls the automatic functions of the body (visceral functions) such as the heart rate, breathing, perspiration, eye pupils, the digestive system, urination and more. The ANS trunk runs directly adjacent to the spinal column. It consists of sensory and motor neurons that interact with the brain stem that is located at the base of the skull emerging from the spinal column. The brain stem is also found in lower life forms such as lizards, crocodiles and birds. It is also referred to as the reptilian brain. The brain stem is the oldest and smallest part of the human brain. It is instinctual and has no reasoning power. The ANS is the human body subconscious control system. It is composed of primarily two main systems. First, the sympathetic system that generally send signals to speed things up and is often thought of as the accelerator on a car. Second, the parasympathetic system generally slows things down. Similar to brakes on a car. This system also controls our Fight or Flight reactions. Some people suffer from a dysfunction of the ANS system. Among the many symptoms they experience the most common include abnormal rapid beating, throbbing, or fluttering of the heart, chest pain, shortness of breath. fatigue, IBS, anxiety, dizziness, and panic attacks. Mitral Valve Prolapse (MVP) patients show many of the same symptoms and the physical characteristics of autonomic dysfunction. This correlation has been well documented and investigated. MVP combined with even minor abnormalities in autonomic function (dysautonomia) often leads to a diagnosis of Mitral Valve Prolapse Syndrome (MVPS). Autonomic dysfunction can be seen entirely separate with a normal mitral valve. Additionally, MVP systems often can be seen without Automatic Dysfunctions. However, when both conditions exist simultaneously the diagnosis is Mitral Valve Prolapse Syndrome. Treatment for MVP Syndrome should begin with the gathering of clinically sound information available to learn how to manage and avoid the symptoms with the understanding of the underlying causes. At the MVP Center in Miami FL, cardiologist Dr. Ariel Soffer and I developed and published the extensive Patient Guide with the Five Key Treatment Principles for MVPS.* These treatment principles were developed as a result of treating the thousands of patients that came from all over the USA and abroad for this unique and effective treatment program. Three Steps to the Most Powerful Punch in the World!
I don't care if you study Uechi ryu or shotokan or kenpo, or whatever, you're going to need a powerful fist. I don't care if it is boxing or Krav maga or tae kwon do, you're going to need a fist that knocks them down the first time! Even if you're in Aikido or Tai Chi, you're going to need some kind of real power, or at least know what power is so you can properly handle it. The funny thing is that a powerful punch is easily attained if you follow a couple of easy steps. You don't have to bash your hands against a telephone pole. You don't have to spear your fingers into boxes of sand. As with most things in this world, once you know the knowledge behind something, that something is easy to understand and do. Thus, the first thing you need to know in developing a killer punch is simple. That one thing you need to understand is...weight. This universe is constructed of nothing more than objects flying through space. When objects strike one another weight will be the resulting sensation. The more weight involved in the collision, the bigger and better the collision. To hit somebody, your fist must sail through space and crash against them. Now, if the body your fist is colliding with weighs a couple of hundred pounds, then you are going to have to have a two hundred pound punch. Well, you could multiply the 20 pounds of your arm by ten times the velocity, but there is a method that is easier. The easiest way is to align your body behind the strike. Your arm may be 20 pounds, but if you can add the weight of your torso and your limbs and even your head to the punch, you can weigh, especially when you times your weight by velocity, 200 pounds. Heck, if you can line up a hundred pounds of body weight behind that strike, and then multiple it by a simple ten, you are going to have a thousand pound sledge hammer of a punch! First, do lots of push ups, and when your arms get strong and able to absorb the shock, start jumping your push ups into the air. Second, do your form slowly, looking at the pieces of your body, and learn to assemble them into one movement. Three, set up a six foot tall box, pad it, make it weigh 200 pounds, and practice shoving it across the floor with your punch. The funny things is that this method is so simple that everybody overlooks it. And, to be truthful, nobody really understands the importance of gauging weight in the martial arts. But, whether you do tai chi chuan, pa kua chang, Chinese Kenpo, tae kwon do, or any of the forms of classical karate, you need to understand weight, and you need to implement some form of the training method I have detailed here if you want The Most Powerful Punch in The World!

Toyota Modified Valve Body
As many Toyota and Jeep owners know, the AW4 / Toyota 340,
A340, and A341E series of transmissions are generally very
well made and demonstrate excellent durability in unmodified
applications. The framework is present for an extremely
strong transmission that is to be used in a high performance
or extreme duty application.
The problem is that the original calibration is engineered
for driver comfort rather than ultimate component strength.
The soft, sliding shifts that are part of the original
design are not appropriate for increased horsepower
applications, towing, off road use, racing, etc.
These calibration inadequacies quickly manifest themselves
as extremely poor shift quality, and more often than not,
severe damage to the gearbox is soon to follow. One of the
most common symptoms of this is the engine stuttering or
hitting the rev limiter during a full throttle upshift.
Without going into too much technical detail, the factory
shortcomings can be addressed through modification and
recalibration of the control valve assembly, a.k.a. the
valve body.
The valve body is a component that is comprised of valves,
solenoids, an orifice separator plate and an intricate
series of passages- it is the most complex component in the
most complex part of your vehicle- the automatic
transmission.
The function of the valve body is to act as the "brain" of
the automatic transmission- it directs hydraulic pressure to
the appropriate clutches and bands at the right time to
initiate upshifts, down shifts, selection of reverse,
converter clutch application, etc. As well as controlling
shift timing and shift quality, it is also responsible for
directing hydraulic pressure to the cooler and the
lubrication circuit.
As you can imagine, the transmission's operational
characteristics can be drastically altered and also
customized to the given application through modifications to
this component.
Because there are no commercially available shift kits for
these transmissions, we began working on valve body
modifications that were appropriate for Supras, Jeeps with
the AW4 transmission, Toyota Tundra, Tacoma and 4Runner, and
also Lexus SUV's and rear drive passenger cars- especially
those that needed to handle the additional power that
accompanies the installation of a supercharger, turbo or
nitrous oxide injection.
At the risk of oversimplification, there are a few things
that are done in concert to create much more favorable
operation of the gearbox.
The first thing that needs to be done is to increase the
hydraulic operating pressure of the transmission- this
pressure is known as "line pressure". All hydraulic
functions of the transmission are based on this pressure-
what is especially of concern for these purposes is the
clamping force which is applied to the clutches and bands to
get them to hold against engine torque.
In simple terms, increased engine output is complemented by
increased line pressure and increased "clamp" on the
clutches- this can be likened to a performance clutch with a
heavier pressure plate spring in a manual transmission
equipped vehicle.
The idea is to raise this pressure only slightly at light
throttle but increase it by 30-40% at full throttle- where
it is really needed. The effects of this are shifts that are
not overly uncomfortable at lower throttle openings, while
at heavier throttle, firm shifts with much shorter clutch
application time and increased clamping force can be
achieved.
An additional benefit of this is increased flow through the
transmission's cooler and lube system.
Secondly, hydraulic pressure is normally routed through an
orifice in a metal "separator plate" that resides between
the two halves of the valve body before it gets to its
intended destination. By altering these orifices, we can
increase the volume of hydraulic oil that is used to apply
the various clutches and bands.
The final part of modification is the alteration of the
accumulator circuits. These are hydraulic circuits that are
parallel to the components that are used for shifting. Their
function is to absorb or "accumulate" some of the hydraulic
pressure that is intended to apply a clutch pack or band. By
limiting the action of what is essentially a "shock
absorber" for each shift, we are able to further reduce
clutch lock up time and shift lag at wide open throttle.
The end result is that shift time is reduced by 30 to 80%,
depending on the amount of acceptable shift feel and the
intended application. The clamping force that is required to
apply the clutches and bands is increased by 30 to 40% at
full throttle. Flow through the cooler and lube circuit is
increased and the converter clutch application time is also
reduced.
Transmission and valve body upgrades are not only for
American made vehicles anymore. Increased performance and
more efficient shifting is now available for vehicles of
almost every manufacturer thanks to the few companies that
are willing to do the research and development work required
for this rapidly growing segment of the automotive
aftermarket.

when the pcv valve spring become weak, what happens?
If they go bad then gas vapors in the crankcase won't be vented out to be burnt in the combustion chamber. There is a chance of explosion from gas and exhaust fumes. Get a new one.
