How to Change Your Car's Air Filter
<!-- @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } -->
A car is similar to a human in the way it breathes, burns energy and expels waste. Changing an air filter on your car is a vital necessity and one which if left for too long, restricts the car's breathing and can cause major problems. Having new and regularly replaced air filters, ensures your car's engine has fresh, unimpeded air flowing through it.
Here is how to change your car's air filter:
-
Purchase the correct air filter for your car, model and engine size. Consult your owner's handbook to retrieve the part number. Have the correct tools for the job at hand before you start, which are: a flat-blade screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver and an air hose compressor.
-
Secure the car by placing the the gear lever into Park and by applying the parking brake. Open the bonnet (hood) using the in-car bonnet release and secure it with the prop rod.
-
The air filter is usually shrouded with plastic tubing on the top of the engine. Older cars usually have large, circular compartments, while new, fuel injected cars have a square air filter housing. To make sure, check the owner's handbook for reference.
-
Loosen the air filter housing, hose clamps and screws (making sure you remember or number them in there respective place). Take out the paper, gauze or cotton based air filter.
-
Clean out the filter's housing, using an air compressor or a dry cloth if this is not an option. Vacuum out any loose dirt and dust, ensuring there are no particles left.
-
Install the new filter, ensuring it is in the same direction and it is exactly the same as the old filter unit.
-
Replace the air filter housing and all of the retaining screws and clamps. Make sure the housing is on straight and is secured. If it is not, then it could cause poor fuel efficiency.
-
Double check all of the screws, clamps and housing parts are replaced properly, shut the bonnet and start the engine to ensure there are no strange noises.
-
Check the filter after 200kms to ensure all of the fixtures are still tight. Re-tighten if necessary. Remember to change you filter every 15,000km or once a year.

Changing gears on road cycle. was told to stay in the first gear...any suggestions as when and how to change?
Was told to stay in first gear when I purchased my road bike but sometimes I feel like it is too easy. Any suggestions on when to change gears to make it more difficult?
Also I am confused by the right and left gear lever...can any one help?
Who in the world told you to stay in 1st??? There is a reason for the gears, else why have them? You answered your own question: if you feel it's too easy shift to a "harder" gear.

Working on Car's Faded Paint
Original factory painted vehicles are thinly coated because it is economical. This is the possible cause that the leads to the paint being faded after some years of getting exposed to atmospheric and various other elements. The vehicles which are lift out in the open weather will eventually fade with time especially on the roof, hood and truck.
Besides this, the oxidation process also causes the paint to deteriorate and ultraviolet light, pollution and even the bird droppings worsen the process. The faded spots on a vehicle give it an old and worn out look. Whether the vehicle has a modern clear coat finish or a traditional single stage paint, the reasons that cause it to fade or discolor are the same.
Old vehicles fade quickly because they do not have coats that are meant for protection of their base paint. If you have faded car, then you have an option to learn to restore faded car paint and make it look shiny and new again. Follow the simple directions.
Materials Needed
- Car soap
- Sponge
- Rag
- Orbital buffer
- Buffing pad
- Polishing pad
- Liquid rubbing compound
- Car polish
Directions
Step 1:
First of all, the car has to be washed with car wash soap and a sponge. Clean it so that all the grime, mud, dirt any type of buildup is removed. Use water and rinse the car, then give it some time to dry completely before proceeding.
Step 2:
Now, apply the liquid rubbing compound to the buffing on the buffer. Start working form the bonnet slowly moving towards the bonnet's back and then to the top of the car then finally to the car's trunk. Afterwards, begin from the front fender and move down to the side of the car finally concluding at the back bumper. Repeat this process for the other side of the car. Don't push down very hard and don't hard on the buffer because it can burn the car's paint.
Step 3:
Now, wipe off the whole surplus rubbing compound using a soft and clean rag. Change the buffing pad on the buffer to a polishing pad. Apply the car polish directly to the polishing pad. Start polishing the car's surface in the same way in which the rubbing compound was applied. Wipe off the surplus polish with a clean and dry rag.
Tips and Warnings
- The vehicle should be parked in a shady area and buff it away from direct sunlight. Sunlight heats the surface of the paint causing the buffer to burn through the paint.
- Don't use dish soap for washing the vehicle. This soap eats up the protective layers of the paint.
- The best protection against the harmful effects of the sun is the application of a high quality wax after every few months.

what kind of rubbing compound do you use for new paint on a car?
need to buff it out after a new paint job.
i have had alot of paint jobs on all sort of cars and trucks, and i dont see why ya need a rubbing compound as rubbing compound is normally used for old paint that is hazed over because of oxadation from the sun or stratches etc. if you have a new paint job i would just wax with a good top of the line paste.also if ya buff with a buffer and you are not experience even with wax you can damage your paint..

New Technique to Expose Previously Written Blog Posts
The major issue bloggers face is that over time their blog archives gets fill up with thousands of posts and by default a blog normally only shows the most recent posts that you have posted on the front page while the majority of your previously written posts can’t get noticed once they drop off the front page.
The new technique is called Sneeze Page. The idea behind it is simple – to create a page that forces the people in different directions deep inside your blog by highlighting a variety of previously written posts.
In simple words - A sneeze page is all about exposing those archives.
There are many types of Sneeze Pages that you can create on your blog. Few types are explained below.
Themed Sneeze Pages - these are posts or pages on your blog or site that revolve around a single theme. The sneeze pages (and others) are linked to prominently around the blog - including the ‘best of blogs’ section of the front page, if you have. These pages generate a lot of page views both themselves and the pages that they link to.
Time Related Sneeze Pages - these pages are based around a defined period of time. They are usually a ‘best of’ post that highlight your key posts from that period to either remind readers of previous posts that they might want to revisit or to highlight posts that they might have missed.
The period of time that you choose can really be anything from a year through to a month, week or even a weekend (ie a post that summarizes the posts from a weekend that those readers who don’t read your blog on a weekend might have missed).
Retro Sneeze Pages - Another variation of this ‘time related’ sneeze page is to do one that unashamedly shows off a number of posts from your blog from a particular point in its history. The most common way to do this is to do a post highlighting posts from the blog from a year ago.
Series Sneeze Pages - many bloggers use the technique of writing a series of blog posts that allow them to explore a topic over a period of time with lots of interlinked posts.
One key with writing a series of posts is to make sure that readers have a trail of links between posts so that they’ll not only read one but the full series.
A great way to help readers discover a full series is to develop a sneeze page. All of the posts in the series should link back to it and it links to them. Series Sneeze pages can become key pages on your blog.
Advantages of Sneeze Pages
Exposure to your archives - I don’t know about you but when I spend hours (if not days) crafting a blog post, I want people to read it! Sneeze pages lengthen the time that people interact with your older posts.
Benefits to SEO - search engines not only look at the links that other people make to your posts in order to give them ranking but the internal links on your blog. Linking to old posts can help them grow their search engine ranking.
Help’s create a Sticky Blog - I’ve not seen stats on this but it is my suspicion that a person arriving on your blog for the first time increases the chances of coming back to it the more great posts that they view on it. Get someone to read 10 great posts that you’ve written previously instead of 1 and you’ll exponentially increase the likelihood that they’ll subscribe and become a regular reader.
Sneeze pages can be an effective way of driving people deep within your blog - but they’ll only do that for as long as you’re able to drive people to the sneeze page itself. As a result - a sneeze page is something that you’ll want to promote and position prominently on your blog in a place that people will continue to see it.
Link your sneeze page from the navigation menu, sidebar or other hot spots on your blog. It works beautifully for both SEO and user experience purpose.

I have 2 four week old yorkies. When will their ears start standing, and when will i need to post them?
I just don't want them to have floppy ears! I want them to stand up if they don't on their own!
Don't panic yet.
Give em another 2-3 wks.
& DON'T "post"...simply wrap a small piece of masking tape around the ear AT THE FOLD & flatten. No big deal!
