Skoda Octavia RS price any good?
I 've seen a Skoda Octavia RS for sale for £4995 with only 45k miles and full service & history is this a good price? I've already done a vehicle history check on the internet and it came back as a clean car with no bad history. I would trade my Honda in for it and probably get 2k off! is that a good deal? My Honda has 72k miles and it's a 2003 model just like the Skoda. The Skoda looks really well looked after too with full leather! Could anyone out there please tell me if this is a bargain and what should I look out for before buying.
That's a good price, Don't follow Parker's guide as they are way too low. I brought mine with 110k on the clock for 3k so a couple more grand for half the mileage is good. Check the water pump and cambelt...Most important this needs to be done 60k OR 4 years and the water pump should be changed to metal impeller then. So this should been done for a 2003 one. It costs about £500 to get done and would need doing right away. The cars are holding there value well, I brought mine for 3k and could sell it for that again easy.

The engine is equipped with direct fuel injection system, which burns the fuel cleaner and does it efficiently. As a result, fuel efficiency of the car is high, while the emissions are low.
The safety features of Skoda Laura have been constructed with utmost care, so as to ensure that its occupants don't suffer from serious injuries in the event of accidents. The cabin is equipped with six air bags, two in the front and two side bags. The rest two bags can be used as a safety curtain. Electronic Stability Program (ESP) controls under as well as over steering, which provides better maneuverability. VAG VW Golf, AUDI A3, Seat Toledo/ Leon, Skoda Octavia tyre question.?
I was wondering what sort of mileage anyone with the above make of vehicle gets from the front tyres on these vehicles. Preferably cars with 1.9TDI engine. The reason i am asking is that i recently replaced all my tyres with Continentals and the front two are already on the wear bars after 4000 miles. They are worn across the full tyre not just the edges.
usually you should get 10,000 miles plus on the tyres, some of my customers get 20- 30 thousand miles which depends on the road conditions ie type of road surfaces, worn, dusty, gravel, windy roads etc.
Tyre pressures also effect the wear, A diesel car is heavier so the front tyres should be inflated to 32psi no lower or higher unless you carry heavy loads.
I don't recommend Continental tyres as the rubber compound is soft, try the Hankook range of tyres as they are a bit cheaper but last a great deal longer, Even Vw are starting to fit these tyres during servicing.
Also have you had the whole geometry of the suspension checked ie Castor, camber, tracking as these effect the front tyre wear. As your tyres are wearing quite quickly i suspect your tracking ie either towing in a great deal or towing out as the tyres are most probably scrubbing the road surface.

what are the skoda diesel engines like in terms of power and noise levels?
it may just be me but i cant help but think that they are a bit noisy just wondered what they genuinely were like especeilly at speed
skoda octavia is a bit noisy one and if you go in a bit upper segment you can have a skoda laura..... its not noisy runs faster than skoda octavia and also have better looks and features....... and if you go for skoda superb.... its not actually superb you can get Mercedes in near about that price....... and skoda fabia comes in small segment and is noisy.......... if you still feel that laura is noisy..... forget every thing go for Honda accord.....
