Keeping Your Rifle Scope Clean
Many of the rifle scopes that people utilize on their weapons are regarded to be extremely durable and little to no damage can affect them. But that doesn't mean that they do not call for any cleaning at all. It is essential to constantly clean your scope and the lens from the dust and dirt that it will draw from foreign elements. That way it will work great for several years.
Before you can clean it you will need to dismount it from the gun. It is linked with screws that keep it mounted and aligned properly. You will want to purchase the proper type of screwdriver that will take away these screws without stripping them or damaging them. Many gun owners will make the error of employing a screwdriver that is too large or tiny or they will employ other instruments that were not constructed for this function. This will ruin your scope for life.
There are tons of peculiar rifle scopes that are all uniquley built. That is why when trying to maintain your lens you should constantly consult your manufacturer’s guide. There are certain manufacturers that will tell you to utilise an optical cleansing wipe close to that utilised on glasses) to clean it off.
There are others that provide a proper cleaning kit full of fluids, brushes, and cloth. There are others that consider the simplest and best way to keep your lens maintained is to merely blow off the dust that covers it. Whatever method they propose there is one direction that they all share. Never are you to touch the lens glass with your open fingertip. The oils on your skin will cling to the glass and make it hard for you to remove it.
When you are not using your scope while using the gun you should to keep the lens wrapped with a special lens cap. This will serve to keep the dirt and dust from it and cut the time you require to maintain it. Because of this it is critical that the lens cap stay clean. When you are not utilizing the rifle scope dismount it from your gun and place it in a protective case or the packing that it came in. It is never a good thing to place your rifle away while the scope is still mounted even if it is aligned because it can make it to become misaligned.

wants to put together a gun cleaning kit for my husband for christmas what goes in them?
he's got several different guns i couldn't begin to tell you what he has riffle and gauges i think.
my husband has an air riffle, 22 gauge, and a 12 gauge shotgun. lol boy being i didn't know much about guns i had to hint around on the questions to ask him. : )
Hi
The equipment needed to clean a gun is a brush to fit the bore, a rod to move the brush through the bore, a "Jag" to hold cleaning patches, cleaning patches, and a solvent to dissolve the powder left in the bore during shooting.
I would start here:

Oxygen Sensor
Oxygen Sensor

Accurate Air-fuel Ratio is Done by the Saturn Oxygen Sensor
Modern cars today have been equipped with the genius of the oxygen sensors. Saturn, a car company that is young at its early twenties, has proved its rightful place in the automotive industry by producing high-quality oxygen sensors. They have developed these complex components through the innovative car technology that reflects in their resume as a car company. Thus, their Saturn Oxygen Sensor promises only accurate measurements of air-fuel ratio to further help the driver with his car's needs.
The Saturn Oxygen Sensor is a part of the emissions control system and feeds data to the engine management computer. The goal of the sensor is to help the engine run as efficiently as possible and also to produce as few emissions as possible. A gasoline engine burns gasoline in the presence of oxygen. It turns out that there is a particular ratio of air and gasoline that is "perfect," and that ratio is 14.7:1 (different fuels have different perfect ratios---the ratio depends on the amount of hydrogen and carbon found in a given amount of fuel).
Meanwhile, if there is less air than the said perfect ratio, then there will be fuel left over after combustion. This is called a rich mixture. Rich mixtures are bad because the unburned fuel creates pollution. If there is more air than this perfect ratio, then there is excess oxygen. This is called a lean mixture. A lean mixture tends to produce more nitrogen-oxide pollutants, and, in some cases, it can cause poor performance and even engine damage.
The Saturn Oxygen Sensor is positioned in the exhaust pipe and is accurate in detecting rich and lean mixtures. Its mechanism involves a chemical reaction that generates a voltage. The engine's computer looks at the voltage to determine if the mixture is rich or lean, and adjusts the amount of fuel entering the engine accordingly. However, like any other car part, the oxygen sensors are not immortal. They may wear out, and this may cause the transfer of erred information. This should be avoided, so one must check them regularly. But when replacements are needed, the Saturn oxygen sensor would be a wise choice.

Will anything clean an oxygen sensor in a car?
My service engine light came on and the code says its an oxygen sensor gone bad. I was wondering is there a product you can put in the gas that could possibly clean the sensor without buying a new one?
Being dirty is not the sensors problem, therefore cleaning it will not help. Also, most MIL codes relating to the Oxygen Sensors do not mean the sensor itself is actually bad, just that whatever problem was encountered was detected by one of the Oxygen Sensors. You need to have the sensor tested properly to determine if it has actually failed or not. Otherwise you could be throwing an expensive (and not returnable) part at the car for nothing.

Temperature Sensor

How to Improve the Accurcy of Infrared Temperature Measurement
Infrared thermometers and temperature sensors, such as the AGRI-THERM II manufactured by Everest Interscience have been used for a few decades now to measure the surface temperature of targets out-of-doors. This work has been done primarily for agricultural applications to determine optimum irrigation scheduling and conserve water. Another use for infrared thermometers where temperatures are taken out-of-doors includes sports medicine applications. In many of these applications, it has been found that the temperatures were lower than what was meaningful. Any infrared temperature measurement that is taken out-of-doors can be found to have the same problem. One important concept has often been overlooked in these studies. That effect is sky radiation. A means to compensate for the reflection to the sky from plants or other objects that the infrared thermometer is measuring must be employed in order to insure accurate readings.
The unique solution of the phenomenon of sky radiation is the addition of the Everest Interscience SKY-SPY to the infrared thermometer or temperature sensor. The SKY-SPY “… provides a novel means for sensing the level of infrared radiation received by the object being measure from a skyward direction,” according to Everest’s U. S. Patent No. 4,420,265. With this invention, a second detector is utilized wherein the reflection by the vegetation or target that is received from a skyward direction may be taken into account to measure the actual surface temperature of the target. The purpose of this second sensor is to account for reflected sky radiation characteristics and compensate for them in the temperature reading from the target itself in order to produce a more precise infrared measurement.
In order to explain the inaccuracies that can be derived by taking out-of-doors infrared temperature measurements without the use of a SKY-SPY, assume that the object that is being measured is a first surface mirror and that the temperature reflected by that mirror is the temperature of the radiation from the sky. This temperature could be as much as -80°C under clear sky conditions. Then, assume that the mirror effect is fading into the object and the mirror radiation comprises only 2.0% of the total radiation (Surface Emissivity = 0.98) and the target forms 98%. The secondary mirror radiation, or the temperature of the sky radiation reflected on the secondary mirror, is now only two (2.0) percent of the temperature of the radiation or -1.6°C. The temperature of a leaf or is usually in a range of no more than minus ten degrees compared to the surrounding ambient air. So, the -1.6°C could be sixteen (16) percent of the total or as much as -1.6°C, bringing the effective temperature of the target down by that amount. In a science where infrared temperature-measure accuracy is critical, this error is intolerable.
Of course, at low-elevation conditions, perhaps in the presence of high water vapor and CO2 layers, the apparent sky temperature is much warmer than -80°C. Under these conditions, the SKY-SPY instantly and automatically corrects for all sky temperatures from ambient to -100°C or beyond.
This unique SKY-SPY, coupled with the infrared thermometers for making infrared temperature measurements with ±0.5°C accuracy that is covered in Everest’s U. S. Patent No. 4,301,682, provide a more accurate means of making the precise temperature measurements needed for agronomy applications. These instruments include Everest’s AGRI-THERM II handheld infrared thermometer, and their Model 4000 and their new Model 3800ZL Fixed-Mounted Infrared Temperature Sensors.
The AGRI-THERM II has been used extensively worldwide to measure crop canopy temperatures in an attempt to control irrigation with the goal of improving crop yields while reducing the amount of irrigation needed. More information on this subject can be read in M. B. Kirkham’s book, Principles of Soil and Plant Water Relations, 2004.
The AGRI-THERM II infrared thermometers are capable of taking surface temperature measurements in a highly dynamic environment such as having the thermometer taken from an air conditioned truck into the heat of the desert without giving them time for equilibration before taking the measurements. Under these environmental conditions, they respond with accuracy of ±0.5 degrees C or ±1.0 degree F.
Everest also markets infrared temperature sensors, the Model 4000.4ZL and the Model 3800ZL, infrared temperature sensors that can be mounted in the field and run continuously.
If you are planning to attend the Joint Meeting of the Geological Society of America, the Soil Science Society of America, the American Society of Agronomy and the Crop Science Society of America at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas, on October 5 through October 8, please stop by Booth No. 1121 to learn more about the SKY-SPY.

my temperature gauge works till truck gets hot then doesnt work. would that be the temp sensor?
i have a 2000 dodge durango. when the truck gets up to running temp the gauge stops working and the truck runs like crap!!!! is it the temperature sensor on the intake?
As for the gauge not working when at operating temp... yes, that could be the sending unit (sensor). But it would not effect the performance aspect... there is more likely another issue causing the vehicle to run poorly.
The temp sensor is usually located near the thermostat housing... look where the top radiator hose goes into the engine, the sensor will be located near that area.
- Good Luck!

Weather Sensors
Natural disasters can be devastating, claiming lives and destroying homes. Sometimes, bad weather is predictable, and you can secure your family and home before it approaches. Other times, bad weather comes out of nowhere and leaves you very little time to get everyone to safety.
The weather doesn't need to be severe to be a bother. Even a simple rainstorm can ruin plans for family fun or make your drive to work more dangerous. You can better prepare yourself for severe weather by installing your own weather sensors. With this advanced technology you can monitor:
•Barometric pressure
•Solar radiation
•Wind speed
•Wind direction
•Humidity
•Temperature
•UV Rays
Different Kinds of Weather Sensors
1.Barometers - use water, air, or mercury to measure atmospheric pressure. Barometers should be kept inside a building where the temperature is relatively constant. A drop in barometric pressure is indicative of a storm.
2.Pyranometers - measure solar radiation and require direct sunlight. They should be positioned out in the open where the sun will beat down on them regularly.
3.Anemometers - measure wind speed and need to be placed where the wind is unobstructed by other objects. Typically, anemometers are mounted a little more than thirty feet off the ground, such as on a roof, and face north.
4.Hygrometers - determine the humidity in the air and are used in conjunction with thermometers. Hygrometers should be arranged near thermometers.
5.Thermometers - measure air temperature and should be positioned four to six feet above ground in a shaded area but away from trees. If you opt to place your thermometer on a building, you should pick a place on a north-facing wall below the eaves to protect it from sun and rain.
6.UV Ray Sensors - monitor the harmful ultra-violet rays projected by the sun. Over exposure to such rays can lead to serious health problems like skin cancer and cataracts. UV ray sensors can be mounted on a wall or inserted into the ground.
Your Personal Meteorologist
Instead of purchasing several different weather sensors and using them separately, you can buy a single device called a personal weather station. Personal weather stations combine all the weather sensors listed above into one multi-featured, accurate environmental monitoring system. Whether installed on your rooftop or ground mounted, personal weather stations provide you with the information necessary to make quick decisions about the safety of loved ones.
Unlike meteorologists or weathermen, weather sensors provide vital and reliable information specific to the weather in your backyard. With weather sensors, you can predict and determine approaching weather to better protect your home and family.

Does light trigger the PIR sensor for a Yale home security alarm?
Hi there, I have a Yale home security system. If I was to set up some light switches that turn on and off automatically at certain times, whilst the alarm is armed, does the alarm PIR sensors pick up the light turning on all of a sudden out of darkness? Or do the sensors only detect movement in solid objects?
The light itself more then likely will not. But the heat of the light crossing with the "beams" could activate it. I've had one customer have a false motion alarm because they left their curtains open in their sunroom and the sun was shining directly on the detector.
Here's an article to help understand how motions work. http://www.howstuffworks.com/burglar-alarm2.htm
Anything that breaks the "beams" or "waves" can cause it to activate.
