Liquid Cattle Feed
These days feeding cattle is important as it will decide how the cattle will grow and Liquid feed supplements, formulated to be used by grazing cattle, are now readily available throughout world. Here we discussed how these supplements affect your cattle.
Liquid Cattle Feed Supplements
These are molasses-based products that are designed to be fed to cows or cattle, using many different methods in each case.
LFS(Liquid feed supplements) comes under two categories, blended and suspension liquid supplements.
The dry part of these supplements is lesser than molasses and the increased moisture content let them to pump easily.
The Liquid Cattle Feed blended Supplements
BLS(blended liquid supplements) are molasses based feeds added with additives like salt, urea, protein meals and other supplements. The one of major problem is that these ingredients will "settle out" when added to molasses and this need to be overcome by recirculation or agitating the liquid supplements.
Suspension liquid supplements
These supplements were developed in late 1970s and 1960's to overcome the 'setting out' issue of BLS(Blended liquid supplements)
The technology used to suspend the additives that added to molasses in suspension is particularly based on finely dispersed clays and gums. These will act as suspend the particular matter in the molasses. Manufactures will use mixing sequence, additive rates, PH of the sodium and temperature to develop the colloidal suspension further.
That means additives are uniformly will available to the animal because of they are homogenized, uniformly sized, through out the supplement.
Suspension liquid supplements (SLS) need special pumps to move them here and there. You can use gravity to pump these supplements.
Liquid feed supplements(LBS) were originally developed for use in feed lots of cows but now they are available for pasture-fed cattle as both blended , suspension supplements.

Scrubbers of Spray Type for Air Cleaning
Oleg Systems Co. is a designer and manufacturer of industrial air scrubbing systems including wet dust / fume collectors. Air scrubbing equipment utilizing the principle of wet dust collecting is available in numerous designs utilizing a number of principles and featuring wide variation in effectiveness, initial cost, operating and maintenance expense, space, arrangements and material of construction.
Many industrial processes produce large quantities of gaseous or vaporized contaminants that must be separated from gas stream. Removal of these contaminants is usually achieved through absorption into a liquid or adsorption onto a solid medium. Incineration of the exhaust gas has also been successfully used for the removal of organic gases and vapors. Spray dry air scrubbers are used to absorb and neutralize acidic gaseous contaminants in hot industrial gas streams. They use an alkali spray to react with the acid gases to form a salt. The process heat evaporates the liquid, resulting in a dry particulate that is removed from the gas stream.
Typical industrial applications for spray dry scrubbers are:
* Control of hydrochloric acid (HCl) emissions from biological hazardous waste incinerators.
* Control of sulfuric acid and sulfur trioxide emissions from burning high-sulfur coal.
* Control of sulfur oxides, boric acid, and hydrogene fluoride (HF) gases from glass-melting furnaces.
Spray gas scrubbers conduct four operations:
1) atomization;
2) gas droplet mixing;
3) drying of liquid droplets;
4) removal and collection of a dry product.
These operations are carried out in a tower or a specially designed vessel. The atomizer must disperse a liquid containing an alkali compound that will react with acidic components of the gas stream. The liquid must be distributed uniformly within the dryer and mixed thoroughly with the hot gases in droplets of a size that will evaporate before striking a dryer surface.
In typical spray dryers used for acid gas control, the droplets have diameters from 50 to 200 microns. The larger droplets are of most concern because these might survive long enough to impinge on equipment surfaces. In general, a trade-off must be made between the largest amount of liquid that can be sprayed and the largest droplets that can be tolerated by the equipment.
An important aspect of spray dryer design and operation is the production and control of the gas flow patterns within the drying chamber. Because of the importnace of the flow patterns, spray scrubbers are usually classified on the basis of gas flow direction in the chamber relative to the spray:
- in Cocurrent Scrubber the liquid feed is sprayed with the flow of the hot gas;
- in Countercourent Scrubber the feed is sprayed against the flow of the gas;
- in Mixed Flow Scrubber there's a combined cocurrent and countercurrent flow.
There are several types of atomizers. High-speed rotating disks achieve atomization through centrifugal motion. Nozzles are also frequently used - both centrifugal pressure nozzles and pnneumatic nozzles. In the centrifugal pressure nozzle, energy for atomization is supplied solely by the pressure of the feed fluid. In the two-fluid nozzles, air (or steam) supplies most of the energy required to atomize the liquid. As a result, two-fluid nozzle can produce very fine atomization, particularly with viscous materials.
Spray air scrubbers include metering valves, pumps and compressores, and controls to assure optimal chemical feed and temperature within gas-cleaning system.

How to Promote a Bar or Restaurant Business
Running a successful bar or restaurant can be hugely rewarding and highly lucrative. But making your business successful can take time and much hard work.
Well targeted and effective marketing of your bar or restaurant can bring you success sooner, and help build a healthy business with loyal long term customers.
But first you need to decide what type of establishment you are running and who it will appeal to. To help decide this consider the following key factors:
- Location - What type of area is your establishment in? If it’s a busy shopping high street then lay on afternoon coffees and snacks for busy shoppers, or fast light lunches. If you’re in a rural area you’ll need to give customers special reasons to come out to your establishment, such as a speciality menu or special events.
- Market - Who are your local market? Trendy young adults, affluent middle aged couples, middle income families and older people all have different tastes and requirements. Find out who your local audience is then tailor your food and ambience accordingly.
- Environment - What is the ambience and atmosphere at your establishment? Are you limited by your setting and interior or do you have the scope to be more flexible? Ambience is a major part of the dining out experience.
Once you’ve decided what you will offer and who to, you can plan a marketing campaign. Here are some ideas of promotional tools you can use to promote your bar or restaurant:
1. Direct Mail
A direct marketing tool like direct mail is a really good option for bars and restaurants because it’s more measurable than other marketing methods, and can be targeted more closely to those potential consumers most likely to visit .
Once you’ve identified your target market you can source mailing lists of more people of the same type from reputable sources. For example the Consumer Profiles list from Selectabase allows you to target potential customers by lifestyle.
Selectabase also offer specialist lists to reach specific market - their Silver Prospects list includes older people, whilst the Mobile Phone database is great for targeting the youth market for bars and clubs.
There’s even a Recently Moved database which provides a monthly list of people who’ve just moved into your local area, so you can introduce your establishment to them.
Mail your list with a good quality mailer and a letter personalised to each person, explaining clearly the benefits your establishment has to offer.
2. Events
Special events are a good way to give potential customers an extra incentive to come out and spend money with you, when they might not normally do so.
You can organise your own regular events, maybe on a quieter night of the week to boost sales. Look at ideas to match the interests of your market such as wine tasting or a gourmet evening, live music nights, stand up comedy, poetry readings or family fun days when you lay on a children’s entertainer.
Also, think about special events that your customers might like to celebrate at your venue, such as a birthday to celebrate. You can reach local consumers who are about to celebrate a birthday through the Birthday Mailings service from Selectabase.
3. PR
Build up good relationships with your local press and use these contacts to get regular coverage for your business. Let them know about special events and news stories such as the opening of a garden or launch of a new menu, and always accompany your press release with good quality photographs to improve the chances of it getting published.
If you find a particularly good publication, then ask if you can supply them with free regular recipe ideas in return for promotion of your establishment. And don’t forget local radio - there are lots of local stations now, who are generally very keen to feature local businesses with a story to tell.
4. Website
Make sure your venue has a good website, full of the information people want to find, such as menus, prices, how to book, parking, location, directions, opening times and so on. Think about including a guestbook for customers to add their comments, and use the website to get visitors to sign up for special offers and news sent by email.

Has anyone seen a workout bar that is bendable, extendable, and has resistance? It is mostly used for chest.?
I was at a friends house the other night and saw a piece of workout equipment that my boyfriend would love, but I'm not sure how to find it. The bar was heavy and had a handle on each end. You could push in the handles and they would extend about 6 inches on each side. The middle of the bar was flexible and you could bend it, but not easily due to the resistance in the bar. Thanks for your your help!
Yeah. I saw them at the gym & used them, but I don't know what that equipment is called for the life of me. You mean the thing that looks like a bent 8 bar.

Google Reader: in Review
Google Reader has evolved into a powerful newsreader. Despite a plethora of competitors GReader stands out based on functionality and price (FREE). Newsgator recently opened their product up for free to consumers as well. Many consumer love the newsgator line but the stand-out difference is that GReader is a full online application (of course) whereas Newsgator is a standalone installable app.
Google Reader is easy to use. Browse to google.com/reader and login with your gmail account.The easiest way to get started is to import an existing feed or collection of rss feeds. GReader can import any opml file under settings - import. In my case I had used a netvibes.com page for quite some time. Helpfully over at netvibes they allow adding pre-defined collections of feeds (tabs in their lingo) to your page which others have submitted. This is very easy to do and convenient. Since I already had 7 or 8 tabs added I exported those into an opml file - then imported directly into GReader.
Tabs from netvibes are imported as tags in GReader. Google continues the trend of using folders and tags interchangeably. Feeds can be subscribed to multiple tags. The interface is a snap to use - Folder list with feeds on the left, content pane on the right.
‘Add Subscription’ allow the user to type any blog/website name or the actual rss link. Feed will be added right away with no tag.
Click on any feed and ‘feed settings’ option allows for applying tags, subscribing and unsubscribing. As you scroll down the content pane of any feed GReader automatically marks that article as read. Unread articles show up in bold in the feed pane. Users can choose ‘mark all read’ in any feed to update all.
Anything with an RSS feed can be added to GReader. This can be deceivingly powerful and doesn’t just limit you to blogs. I’ve setup ebay listings, craiglist search results and even job searches to show up in my Reader based on the RSS feed available on each.
One of the most powerful (and untouted) features of Google Reader is that it saves the data for you. This means that you can add a whole slew of feeds, organize them at will - and then use the ever-available search to sift thru all of the data without needing to hit the live site(s).
This can be a great research tool - as well as an organization one. Since I’ve switched to GReader the time savings has been immense. Instead of flipping thru bookmarks, news sites and blogs I scan quickly thru the updated sites and can focus my time on the content that I truly need or am interested in. If I happen to miss something or don’t have time to catch up, it will be right there for me when I’m ready.
I’ve found that I don’t need to bookmark nearly as many sites as previously - they now wait for me in Reader.
Another of my favorite features - Google Reader Mobile. That’s correct - I can pull up google.com/reader on my phone and flip thru all of the same content. This makes my cumbersome phone browser suddenly useful. Instead of fighting to type in URLS and sites that do not fit on the mobile browser, the content is served up easily and organized just as I like.
Adding a bit of social flair google allows for all feeds and links to be shared publicly or with friends via ‘your shared items’. I am sure google will try to increase this functionality over time as it would position competitively with many other social bookmarking sites. Trends are also viewable and available (of course - this is Google) where you can see which feeds you spend time on, what you read, etc.
Thru the magic of Google Gears you can even take your Reader info offline with you. Install Gears and GReader allows you to sync the last 2000 articles offline - cached on your local system. In my mind this answers many of the original criticisms of the online Reader. When you connect again it syncs and marks the Read/Unread count as necessary.
All in all a terrific application. And for the price - how could you beat it. Google scores another win for usefulness and assuming they continue to upgrade and improve they’ve got a sure winner.
