When I get older, I'm not sure if I want to work. I really want to raise a family. Its strange, but i WANT to have children, and cook and keep house. Is that so un-feminist?
Why do you want to be a femenist?! I'd love a woman like you... hell im single.. drop me an email.

Radio Antenna

Tuning That Radio Antenna for Better Reception
Going back to the times when radios had antennas attached to them for transmission as well as reception of signals, it's probably not a common sight to see such gadgets in use. Mainstream technology offers us real-time options to communicate with one another on computers via the internet as well as enjoy listening to news and music streamed into media players. However, nothing beats the rasp and crackle on the conventional radio as a means to connect into the unknown.
A radio antenna's main function is to convert radio frequency signals picked up from the air by its receivers, into electrical signals to produce audible sound. If the radio is also meant for transmission, it then converts electrical signals, which represent a human's voice or a song, into radio frequency signals and emit them. Since these signals travel through the air, there is always a great chance of signal loss depending on its surroundings. Any electrical device radiating some form of frequency can affect the radio's transmission and reception. An antenna constructed of incorrect height and material is also subject to further interference.
Radio stations sport giant antennas to ensure strong signal transmission to its listeners. Hence, radio antennas attached to the device itself are quite sufficient to pick up these strong signals without having the need for secondary antennas. The trick, however, is to adjust the antenna to pick up the best reception possible. Since radio signals travel as waves, the antenna height plays an important role. Simply extending it to its fullest doesn't automatically ensure good reception.
If you are staying in the outback away from civilization, an outdoor antenna may be required to pick up and transmit stronger signals. Ensure you place it in a clear area on high ground for maximum effect. Within city limits, an indoor antenna is a good alternative to avoid a sore thumb in your garden. Normally attached to the highest part of the house, insulated wire is run from the antenna to the radio. There is no hard and fast rule on which antenna heights work best. It all comes down to testing and tuning for what best suits your environment.

Operations ( HEALTH, SAFETY ENVIRONMENT)
OSHE Operations:
OSHE Training
Training is a fundamental and necessary method for shaping behaviors and developing our employees. An effective training program can inform employees of the OSHE hazards and controls in the workplace, help them recognize and appropriately respond to hazardous situations and drive compliance to OSHE rules and procedures established by the organization/site. Therefore, based on the work being performed and the results of the Risk Assessment, a training needs assessment will be developed for the project.
The assessment will identify:
- Training programs required for each job or job classification
- Training and testing frequency
- Training programs shall be appropriate for the intended audience and adequately address organizational levels, risks, ability, literacy and language skills.
- Where necessary to achieve the desired performance, training programs shall be specific to the workplace, activities or operations
- Where required by legal and other requirements or by Project/ Operations Execution Organization OSHE Standards, the organization shall identify expected competency level and implement methods to assess competency as a result of the training.
- Training programs shall be reviewed and updated to reflect changes to the workplace, activities, equipment, processes, or procedures.
Communications
An effective and formal process to ensure the proper flow and exchange of information is a key element to any well-managed project. Communication is critical to OSHE Management System execution due to the importance of knowing expectations, performance, and the risk associated with the project. The Project Team's ability to effectively communicate and involve the workforce will help ensure a successful OSHE culture.
Both internal and external communication channels must be effectively established. Internal two-way communication is critical to success. Employees must feel comfortable to report any and all OSHE issues plus have the knowledge of the processes established for doing so.
In addition, a sound and consistent process to engage key external stakeholders (customer, contractors) will ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of external communication. The Project Manager will establish the process for communicating with the customer and other stakeholders.
Document and Records Management
Project/ Operations Execution Organization utilizes OSHE documents such as procedures, work instructions, checklists and training tools to ensure those affected by the OSHE Management System are aware of their roles and responsibilities, past OSHE performance, maintenance of a safe work environment and compliance with Project Execution Organization, customer and regulatory policy/ standards.
OSHE records are to be maintained at the project per Project Execution Organization's OSHE Management System requirements.
Operation Controls/ Standard Work Procedures
An important step in successfully managing OSHE risks is the active process of gaining operational control over significant OSHE aspects recognized by the Risk Assessment process. Operational control can be achieved by a variety of effective methods such as engineering controls, standard work instructions, training, and preventative maintenance programs.
The first priority should be to ask if the work task is necessary. If it is determined that the task is necessary, then per the operational controls hierarchy, we are to provide engineering solutions regarding OSHE risks.
Where engineering solutions do not eliminate the risk, work instructions and training must be developed. Documented work instructions ensure that the necessary steps and activities for controlling risks are completed correctly, at the right time, by the right people, and the same way every time.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is the last control form we endeavor to take. In some work environments, PPE will be required regardless of other controls as added protection. The site is to provide the required PPE and will need to establish site specific distribution controls of the PPE. Project/ Operations Execution Organization must have preferred vendors and processes are in place for acquiring PPE.
OSHE Corrective Actions
A nonconformance is any deviation from the OSHE Management System. This includes deviation from Project/ Operations Execution Organization or stakeholder policy or standards, established OSHE procedures, rules, regulations and voluntary commitments. A nonconformance is often an indication of weakness or a flaw that requires corrective and/or preventive actions to improve the effectiveness of the management system. Once a nonconformance is identified it is critical that systems are available and activated that ensure the most effective and feasible corrective actions are selected, responsibility is assigned, reasonable timeframe are defined and completion of the corrective actions are confirmed.
Auditing, Inspections and Self Assessments
A vital element of our OSHE Management System is a systematic and structured verification of system performance and regular feedback that allows the project to manage and continually improve performance.
An effective OSHE auditing and self- assessment program is one that objectively obtains and evaluates performance in order to: (1) determine if the management system is effectively implemented and delivering expected performance, (2) assess whether the organization complies with the policy and standards established by Project/ Operations Execution Organization and applicable regulatory agencies, and (3) communicate valuable information so Project/ Operations Execution Organization leadership is able to proactively manage OSHE risks and performance.
The project will have an established method of conducting site inspections, task performance observations, OSHE audits and self assessments to a pre-determined schedule (daily, weekly, etc.) which is posted and communicated to all parties. Records are to be maintained on site and be available for review at any time.
OSHE Metrics and Management Reviews
Regular reviews of our OSHE Management System enhance our ability to achieve the desired performance from our system. The intent of the review is for the project's leadership to evaluate, manage and continually improve the performance of its management system.
Since the most effective management system is one that is fully integrated into the way we conduct business, the most effective and desirable OSHE management system review is one that is integrated into the normal business or operations review process. Project Management Team (PMT) members should directly interface with the client's project team by participating in any established weekly, monthly or formal presentations. Review of OSHE metrics as defined by the project's OSHE plan are to be presented and recommendations for improvement assigned to a Project/ Operations Execution Organization or client's team member.
All related OSHE Incidents/Events must be reported via internal reporting process and to be tracked using the Corporate OSHE Event Tracking System on Project Execution Organization's Intranet. Metrics shall be communicated and reviewed by the project management team on a regular basis. Corrective and preventive actions, target dates and ownership are to be assigned to each event and tracked accordingly.

Why did the brave Taliban hoist their flag in Victory while the U.S. troops wallowed in defeat?
KABUL, Afghanistan - Taliban fighters said on Wednesday they had hoisted their flag over a remote district of Afghanistan, four days after inflicting the worst battlefield casualties on U.S. troops in more than a year in an attack there.
The American troops were driven out of the area by the brave freedom fighters of Afghanistan the same area where the Russians were defeated years ago.
Mark my words, we will never win there.

Effective Structural Engineering Services, Facts about Structural Engineering
Structural Engineering Services are a key element in a wide variety of industries including: factories, construction, ship building, naval construction and tons other building/structure construction. Below Ill be discussing some specific elements of these services and revealing one of the Top Structural Engineering Companies in business today.
Steel Detailing:
Structural steel detailing deals with drawings that are used to determine the requirements for each steel member needed for whatever construction. Structural steel detailing usually has information on specifications, dimensions, sizes, materials needed, and other similar information.
Steel detailing services create an accurate image of each structural element: its placements, connections with other components, and precise dimensions. Steel detailing helps create flawless construction. Structural steel detailing normally starts after the design of the structural framework is done. Using the properties of steel, the steel detail er calculates the forces acting on the connection he is designing. He then consults design tables to arrive at the specific design details of the connection.
For the construction industry, a shop drawing can be confusing. Yet we cannot construct buildings without them! These types of drawings tend to have lots of confusing terms and images. You must have proper professional structural engineering firm to provide good drawing services within your deadline.
Undiscovered mistakes in drawings often leads to unexpected and undesired construction results! This leads to exorbitant economic claims against architects, engineers, and contractors. Some drawings have resulted in expensive construction defects, tragic personal injuries, and the worse of all, loss of life. You have to get this RIGHT!
Outsourcing to a structural engineering firm is the best option! Because the top service providers use the latest technology to provide their clients with the best drawings that exceed their expectations. They need to have a team of professional steel detailer and civil engineers have a track record of providing accurate services according to requirements.

have 1995 gmc 1/2 ton 4x4 with a engine 350. park truck, then in the morning it would not start.?
check spark plugs, dist cap and rotor, change oil and filter, check all fuses. It turns over good and seems to want to start but it sounds like it want to when i put the gas padel all the way down, but it dont wont to start.
Try banging on the gas tank with a rubber mallet or piece of wood then try starting. If this works you need a new fuel pump.

Lap Band Surgery - Know Your Options
Did you know that unlike gastric bypass surgery, the adjustable gastric band or lap band surgery procedure is reversible? The LAP-BAND System received approval from the Food and Drug Administration for use in the United States back in June 2001. Another type of gastric band, the Swedish adjustable gastric band, differs from the LAP-BAND because it's not designed for use with keyhole laparoscopic surgery.
In general, gastric banding, including the Lap Band procedure and weight loss system is indicated for people for whom: Body Mass Index is above 40, or for those who are 100 pounds (45 kg) or more over their estimated ideal weight according to the 1983 Metropolitan Life Insurance Tables or for those between 30 to 40 with co-morbidities, which may improve with weight loss (high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, and arthritis). Mentally disabled or emotionally unstable people won't be considered for lap band surgery. The lap band surgery is usually not performed if one has an untreated glandular disease like hypothyroidism, where other solutions may still be sought.
In order to be considered for surgery one must have the comprehension of the risks and benefits of the gastric band procedure and willingness to comply with the substantial lifelong dietary restrictions required for long term success. Failure of dietary or weight-loss drug therapy for more than one year can also make one eligible for the adjustable gastric band procedure.
Gastric dumping syndrome problems that occur in other types of surgeries do not occur in lap band surgeries because no intestines are removed or re-routed. Unlike those who have procedures such as Roux -en -y gastric bypass surgery, duodenal switch or biliopancreatic diversion, it's unusual for gastric band patients to experience nutritional deficiencies or malabsorption of any micronutrients. Another plus is the surgeon uses a specialized needle to avoid damage to the port membrane.
Lap band or gastric band placement, unlike the traditional malabsorptive weight loss surgeries does not cut or remove any part of the digestive system. The placement of the adjustable gastric band creates a small pouch at the top of the stomach, which holds approximately 50 ml. This pouch 'fills' with food quickly and the passage of food from the top to the bottom of the stomach is slowed down. Calcium supplements and Vitamin B12 injections are not usually required following gastric banding as they are with Roux-en--y gastric bypass surgery and other surgeries.
The amount of weight that is lost following the months after surgery will depend on the individual and their personal circumstances, motivation, and mobility. Some patients may find that before their first 'fill' appointment they are still able to eat fairly large portions. Post surgery the patient should consider eating less, eating slowly and chewing food thoroughly.
Following surgery, adjustments, which are also called 'fills', may be performed using a fluoroscope so the radiologist may evaluate the placement of the band, the port and the tubing, which runs between the port and the band. Initial weight loss in gastric banding is slower than with Roux-en-y gastric bypass surgery but statistics indicate that over a five year period the weight loss outcome is usually similar.
Complications of gastric band surgery include ulceration and irritated stomach tissue. Some of the mechanical malfunctions that can occur post-surgery are port leakage, cracking of the kink-resistant tubing or disruption of the tubing connection from the port to the band, port site pain and port displacement.
Some of the adjustable gastric band surgery complications involving the band itself and port can include band slippage, pouch dilation, esophageal dilatation or dysmotility and erosion of the band into the gastric lumen. Erosion can occur where the band may wear a small area on the outside of the stomach which can lead to migration of the band to the inside of the stomach.
Many factors can affect the total cost of surgery, including the gastric surgeon you choose, where you choose to have the surgery performed, and what fees are included or not included in the price and if you're traveling out of the country. Some post-surgical weight loss surgery teams offer support groups, but some of them mix gastric bypass surgery patients with gastric banding patients, so it's important to try to find a support group for gastric banding only. The adjustable gastric band surgery is fully reversible, has a short hospital stay and there is usually a quick recovery, but be fully aware of the complications that can occur.

reasons for not eliminating school electives?
such as art,band, auto mechanics...
i'm writing a persuasive paper about not eliminating school electives in order to save money.
so far here are my ideas to support my opinion:
they prepare students for college
they are involed in something they enjoy learning about
they learn
any other ideas?
1. Some students are not preparing to go to a regular college. They want to enter vocational programs, which electives best prepare them for.
2. Some students plan to become professional musicians, and schools like Julliard or the New England Music Conservatory want to see their passion for music expressed in school Orchestra or Band programs.
3. Students may discover passions for future careers by enrolling in a music class or in drama.
4. Courses like Auto Shop and Home Ec prepare are highly applicable to any lay person's life. Unlike Chemistry or Biology, these courses are important to a student right then and in his or her future life, not just for college. Hence the name, " 'life' skills."
5. Many studies have correlated programs like art and music to better grades. An AP news article (link below) says "High school students who take music lessons and join theater groups do better in math, reading, history, geography and citizenship, according to a study of Education Department data to be published today."
I hope I helped!
