Trailblazer Vortec 4.2L oil filter access and removal tool?
GM engineers out did themselves on this one. Just went to change my 05 TB filter for the first time...holy crap. Any tips out there for accessing the filter...should I grap it from underneath or from the side (thru suspension)?
Also, a recommendation for tool to use...band clamp or filter socket? Finally, tips to ensure oil doesn't drain on the cross tube directly under the filter.
Thanks for your help.
You can buy a cup type oil filter wrench to help with removeal at your local auto parts store. These are really messy filters to remove.I have found shop towels are the only way to help with the waste oil going were it dont belong.Best of luck with your trailblazer.

How can I get out a stuck oil drain plug?
I just bought a truck with high milage and it appears noone has changed the oil in a pretty long time. The drain plug won't budge for anything. I have wrenched it till it's nearly stripped out and I don't want to keep doing it till it's rounded off. Are there any tricks I can try?
Weld a new nut on top of the old plug so you can get a socket on the new nut and put an impact to it. It should come off.

I have an idea to make solar oil heater how can I get financial help for RND?
I have an idea to make solar oil heater which may be useful for cooking, boiler purpose & heating furnace. But I have not enough money for RND so what I have to do ?
If it does not involve very huge financial help any bank can help but ONLY against some security.
You can also approach Govt. Agencies who are involved in Alternative source of energy. It will involve lots of correspondence and consume lot of time.
The biggest problem in this case is that you want money for RND for a purpose result of which is unknown.
Please also try selling your idea to NGOs. With internet and addresses of most of the agencies readily available the correspondence with such agencies is just a click away
Good luck

The Important Of Flange In Our Life
Our garages have fast become one of the most important places in our homes. Just like the basement, the garage has gone from a place where we might store a few things, but otherwise neglect, to becoming a vitally important workshop, TV room, and laundry room.
Keeping our garage warm is much more important today than it used to be. If you are looking for ways to save on your energy bill, you may want to consider installing some weather stripping. It should only take you a few minutes and you won't need a hardware store full of tools, either.
First off, you will have to choose the right weather stripping for your particular garage door. The average hardware store has a stunning number of choices, but the two that you want to pick are the bottom door gasket and a flange style stripping that goes around the outside of the door. The flange style stripping is fairly easy to find. It often comes in two varieties one with dual flexible sides and one that has a hard side and a flexible side that looks a lot like wood moulding.
If your garage door has a bottom channel that allows for old weather stripping to be slid out and new weather stripping to be slid in, it only takes a second to replace the old with the new. If your door doesn't have such a channel, open your door to a comfortable working height and use a 2x4 to keep it open. If your door is made out of wood, you want to seal it, so consider adding a coat of sealant before you nail on the new stripping. Cut out the piece of stripping and be sure that you attach it with the thick side out. Use roofing nails to attach the stripping, or just use the nails that come with the kit you bought.
Before you attach the stripping to the sides, you need to be very careful and measure out how much space you have. The last thing you want is to nail in all of this weather stripping only to find out you can't even close your door any longer. Once you have everything measured out, use roofing nails or the nails that came with your kit to fit everything into place. Make sure you test the door several times during this process to ensure that you don't have to do everything over.
Here are some final tips before you finish up. Make a point of checking on your garage door weather stripping in a few days after installation. You want to make sure that nothing is getting in the way of the garage door opening or closing. It isn't that weather stripping is so expensive you can't just replace a piece if you have a problem, but you need to look out for the motor so that you aren't putting too much stress on it every time you leave your home. Done correctly, good garage door weather stripping can save you considerable cash on your next heating bill.

For replacement toilet installation, does lead pipe have to be cut level with floor? with what kind of tool?
In very old house, my son disconnected old toilet, hoping to replace it. The opening of the lead pipe it had been connected to is very misshapen and is about 2 inches above the floor. Doesn't it have to be level with the floor to install the closet flange? If so, what kind of tool do we use to cut the pipe?
yes it will have to be cut to get rid of misshaped section and height will depend on new flange.
Cut with hacksaw or sawzall with a fine metal cutting blade.

Money Saving Tips for Next Oil Change!
Save at least $30 by changing your oil yourself every time. When it comes time to change the oil of your Ford Tempo, doing it yourself could save you up to $30 or more. How do you know when to change your oil?
Change your oil every 3000 miles or about every 3 months, whichever comes first. SAE 5W-30 motor oil is the preferred motor oil to use for all weathering conditions, but if you are like me and live in moderate to hot temperatures then SAE 10W-30 motor oil is also acceptable.
Never change your engine oil while the engine is hot. This should be common sense. If your engine is hot, wait 2 hours. You could suffer terrible burns from your car's engine or oil drainage. We don't want any hospital bills over here.
Locate your car's oil pan drain plug. Place an oil pan underneath the plug so you don't spill any oil on the ground. Unscrew the drain plug and let the oil drain out for about 20 minutes to ensure all oil has poured out. Screw the plug back in. If you start pouring oil in without the plug tightly fastened then you are in for a greasy mess.
Locate the oil filter, unscrew it, and take it off. The oil filter is the piece that is shaped like half a cylinder. Be careful because oil will want to leak out of it after you unscrew it so keep it upside down. Then screw the new oil filter in.
Pour the correct amount of oil in for your vehicle. For a 2.3L engine, the oil amount should be 5 quarts. If you have a 2.3L engine, make sure the oil filter says FL-300. For 3.0L Tempo engines, you will want to put only 4.5 quarts of oil in, and make sure the oil filter says FL-400A.
If your car has a lot of miles on it (lets say +80,000), it might be a good idea to use oil that is specifically designed for cars with high mileage. I use Valvoline High Mileage and it seems to work pretty good for my 1993 Tempo (+120,000 mi).
A quick auto maintenance tip to keep in mind is to periodically check the ground underneath your parked vehicle. Look for any liquids that look like they are new. If it looks like fresh liquid, there could be a chance that it is coming from your car. Be sure to keep an eye the next time your car is parked for a while to confirm any suspicious liquid.
Just for reference, reddish liquid will be power steering fluid, brownish liquid will probably be oil, and if it is a bluish liquid it is most likely radiator coolant.
Check your oil level every couple of weeks. Make sure your oil level is within the regulated guidelines located at the bottom of your oil dip stick. Your dip stick is the stick with a round, usually colored ring at the top. All you do is pull it out, wipe off excess oil with a rag, stick it back in, pull it out again, hold it level, and decipher where the oil line stops.
Don't be an idiot. Always properly dispose of any used oil. Local auto parts stores and service stations usually have a receptacle in the back of their store where you can recycle any used oil. Start recycling now before we jack Earth up anymore and there is nothing left to protect.

Adjustable Beds - Not Just For the Elderly!
In an ever increasing market for the ultimate Sleep System, most people still believe that the Adjustable Bed which was originally used in Hospitals and Homes for the Elderly are still that. A bed that can help the elderly in and out of bed! Although they are extremely helpful in these situations, they can also be very important for anybody in today’s lifestyle.
Now any sincere knowledgeable mattress salesman won’t push the watching TV or reading in bed, it’s not something that we should recommend. But with today’s lifestyles, this has become a normal way of life for some people. Sitting in bed watching TV, working to make the big deadline is OK, if that’s your choice. But propping up two pillows every 3 minutes is probably not doing any good to your back or any other part of your body for that matter. If this sounds like you, maybe your next mattress purchase should have an adjustable base as well.
There are many “side affects” from poor sleep and sleep habits that might also be a clue for you to check out the benefits of the adjustable bed. Some of the health issues are back problems, neck and shoulder pain, arthritis, circulatory problems, gastric reflux at night, snoring, breathing problems. Not only does an adjustable bed provide serious convenience with regards to helping people in and out of bed but there are many health benefits that can be taken advantage of for anyone.
Tossing and turning at night on their mattress is the most common reason that people don't sleep well at night. The main reason people toss and turn at night is pressure points; traditional coil and spring mattresses put pressure on different areas of your body causing restricted circulation to those areas, when your body becomes uncomfortable you turn to a new position. Another reason for tossing and turning is improper spinal alignment. All traditional mattresses are flat but our bodies are curved, the traditional mattress fails to offer the lumbar region enough support often allowing your lower back and hips to sink below the rest of your body. This causes pressure and discomfort in that area which causes your body to turn to a new position.
Adjustable sleep systems offer you several great benefits. Obviously, the adjustable base is only that, an adjustable base. To get all the benefits out of your adjustable base you need the proper mattress to work with it. Together they can create a totally pressure free environment while you sleep. Many studies have been done with the space program; the best known is the creation of memory foam. But there is more that was learned from the way astronauts sleep in space. Well our astronauts sleep in a totally pressure free environment experience all the time, floating in space. In studying the way astronauts sleep in space we have discovered a few interesting things. First off, their heads stay slightly elevated allowing for easier breathing. Secondly and probably more importantly, we see that their knees naturally bend and elevate slightly above the heart. This position takes pressure off the spine and allows for increased blood flow to the heart.
Only an adjustable bed can mimic this extremely comfortable and healthy position. Keeping your body in our natural sleep position reduces the pressure on your skeletal frame more than 85% ensuring you will get the deepest most restful sleep possible.
What to Look For
An adjustable sleep system consists of two parts, the base and the mattress.
The Base: There are really two types of adjustable beds, the commercial model used in Hospitals and regular consumer models. The commercial product is very heavy duty and usually has rails on the sides to help someone pull themselves up. These models are extremely expensive and are not very esthetically pleasing for home use, unless your health requires it.
- Concentrate on the frame construction; you want the heavy duty construction with the look of an elegant piece of furniture. Preferably, a regular box spring appearance giving you the ability to dress it how you like it.
- Look for quality motors at the “head and foot.” Make sure they are UL Listed and CSA approved. Preferably a Freefall Design so the head and foot sections lower by gravity only, this will ensure the motor gets extended life. Also ensure that it’s equipped with insulated rubber wheels for smooth, quiet operation.
- A Polarized “Modular” electrical system is the way to go as it ensures you won’t have any stray wires and with the plug-in feature makes service a snap.
- Look for at least a 50 degree incline at “both head and foot”, 60 degrees is optimal.
- Make sure the legs have threaded glides allowing you to adjust the height of the bed to your liking.
- Now depending on your preference, make sure there’s the availability of a massager. I don’t know about you but I like the massager, it provides that little bit extra pampering you need at the end of some days. Some brands you have no choice, either you get it and pay for it or you can’t get it. Having a choice is always nice.
- Same goes for the remote, it’s nice to have the choice between wired or wireless.
Read more about-------->adjustable bed
The Mattress: Your mattress is the single most important component of any bed, adjustable or not, even if your foundation was the corner of 4th and Main. The proper mattress should provide the proper support, pressure relief and spinal alignment even in this situation.
- Many companies only offer coil and spring mattresses with their adjustable bases. This is not exactly the best case scenario. The coil and spring mattresses are not very pliable and don't really work well with an adjustable base and often need replacing every five years.
- There are other very luxurious choices “at a fraction of the price” that you would benefit from with use of your adjustable base. All are designed to offer you pressure relief, proper spinal alignment and a more breathable sleep surface. Air Mattress Beds work well with the adjustable base when they are equipped with horizontal chambers, the chambers follow the contour of the bed nicely. Although this works well, it’s still not the optimal choice.
- Try looking at a Memory Foam or Latex mattress, these mattresses are made from highly specialized foams and are more durable and pliable than coils and springs, as a result they will work in unison with the adjustable base to provide you with the ultimate adjustable sleep experience. Not to mention your mattress will most probably last for its intended life and these foam mattresses can go for twenty years.
- The final tip is to stay away from the deal that promises, “Mattress Included” rarely does this mean your getting any quality in the mattress they’re giving you. Just “FOAM” doesn’t mean Memory or Latex foam; check it out to make sure.
So depending on your lifestyle or if your health dictates (I hope this isn’t the case) check out all the health and convenience benefits of a quality adjustable bed, but don’t forget the “quality” mattress!!

tailors dummy?
I am a recent textile graduate and I really really want to get a stockman / k&l tailors dummy- in a size 8, it doesn't matter how old it is, or what state the fabric is in (as I can cover the fabric).
Trouble is these things cost like £500 and I am broke- really. I work for £5.05 an hour (and I am over 18.! (Iam 25).)
The reason I realy want a fixed tailors dummy is that in the past I have owned 2 adjustable tailors dummies but I found them difficult to work with as the dress-makers pins need to go in at an angle, and they have gaps where the segments dont meet smoothly. Plus the reason I dont have them anymore is because they snapped when fell- so flimsy.
I have given up on ebay as the good tailors dummies seem to get to about one hundred pounds, and I dont have this kind of money. The cheaper ones are made out of polystyrene and have unnatural figures- (shop fittings with VERY pert boobs, beyonce bum.)
I live in London and am willing to travel anywhere in the uk
I cant help you, but I hope you find one...good luck...;

Mind That Banana Skin - Slip & Trip Accident Advice
While analyzing the causes of these falls, we may infer that most of them are caused by being careless or clumsy, steeping on objects or due to defective, uneven or slippery surfaces. These are only assumptions and other causes like friction between the shoes and the surface, environmental distractions and physical or mental functional limitations of the victim are seemingly ignored by most personal injury investigators in slip and trip accidents
Walking Mechanics: Kinesiology is the study of energy applied to motion. This science provides a method to analyze moving patterns. All human movement can be measured and recorded. As we already know, all human movement occurs by expansion and contraction of muscles which are attached to bones and joints. The movement is facilitated by the use of leverage (as in physics). Understanding these levers that the body uses helps to understand the injuries and deformities caused as a result of an accident. All movement operates around the centre of gravity, and the centre of gravity of a human body lies approximately at the level of 55% of the height from the bottom, more or less at the centre of the body.
The centre of gravity swings left and right when we walk depending upon the leg being swung at that point of time along with the transfer of weight from the trailing leg forward creating the momentum to aid the walking motion. The whole process can be divided into four steps - propulsion, swing, and catch and support.
Walking is a motor skill and walking patterns are distinctive from person to person. These may be inherent graces or caused to factors like flat footedness etc. Walking is an art of keeping your centre of gravity at the optimum area, also called keeping your balance. Once the centre of gravity moves out of your body's physical area for a prolonged period of time, you tend to lose your balance and fall.
All of us walk intrusively, since walking is a motor skill and is imbibed. We do not need any kind of concentration to keep walking, as a result of which our mind wanders to various thoughts. However, the observation required to make our walk smoother and avoid obstacles is not a motor skill. So we tend to lose our concentration and powers of observation due to preoccupancy with the thought process, we tend to get involved in a slip and trip accidents.
Falls can be classified into the following four categories:
1. Trip-and-fall accidents - caused due to encountering a foreign obstacle or object in the walking path.
2. Stump-and-fall accidents - caused when a moving foot comes across an impediment on the surface, which could be a tacky point or a defect that impedes the foot.
3. Step-and-fall accidents - caused when the foot finds an unexpected failure, void or hole in the walking surface.
4. Slip and trip accidents - caused when the contact between the sole of the shoe and the floor fails to lend support to the walker's center of gravity.
Most common amongst the above is the slip and fall accident.
Investigation:
Investigators of injuries caused by falls should be knowledgeable in the principles of human movement and should have working knowledge of floor materials, cleaning methods, and lighting. During the reconstruction of a slip-and-fall accident, investigators should not come to any conclusion too quickly. Extensive interviews of the victim should form the basis o the investigation. Measurement of slip resistance of the floor in question is essential along with the accurate measurements of the light intensity and contrast.
In all cases, the findings should be compared against the building codes and industry standards. Although they seem to be the simplest of all slip and trip accidents, falls are anything but simple.

what harm will I do if I run without my front drive shaft on a 1991 oldsmobile bravada all wheel drive?
The front U-Joint has slipped and the gears are grinding in the transfer case. Can I somehow bypass it and run with only the rear driveshaft?
what you are saying really doesn't make that much sense to me but if there is a problem with your transfer case then it won't do any good.
