Honda Civic 97 keeps overheating. Why?
Hey there, so my car has been in and out of the auto shop for about the past two months due to constant overheating.
The first few times was due to the radiator malfunctioning, and now it's replaced with a brand new one. Smoke would swoop out the hood and the funky smell of syrup always followed.
But now, my thermometer reads that the car is overheating but this time I don't notice and smoke airing out. I just replaced the upper radiator hose that was torn, thinking that was the problem.
Yet the car still overheats, has my engine been damaged or is there some other explanation?

your engine could be damaged or maybe the radiator was not put in right. go get it checked out and if it does start to overheat when you are driving, turn the heat on, even if its 100 degrees out. it takees the hot air out of the motor

How do you install 2 hard drives using Serial ATA. Can they be set to Masterslave? What's the best way?
I tried to install a 2nd serial ata drive and everything went well until I rebooted. I got nothing but a black screen with a flashing cursor. I had to disconnect it. I don't see a way to set up master/slave with these kind of drives and I don't want to damage my PC in the process of doing this. Any suggestions?
There is no Master or Slave concept that I know of in SATA. You hook up one device per port. You might want your boot drive in the lowest port number (port 0 on some motherboards; port 1 on others), but other than that, you shouldn't have a problem.
What happens if you only have the new SATA drive connected? It won't boot if there's no OS on it of course, but does it get to the point of complaining it didn't find an OS?
Do you need to go into the BIOS to enable more SATA ports?
Is there an operating system on the 2nd (new) disk? If there is/was, you might want to download Darik's Boot and Nuke from http://www.dban.org/ . Disconnect your current boot drive before using DBAN. If you don't, it will be erased as well. REPEAT: Disconnect your current boot drive before using DBAN.
Other things that come to mind. Is your motherboard SATA 3.0 Gb (a.k.a. SATA II) compatible or only SATA 1.5? If it only supports 1.5 Gb, is the 1.5 Gb limiting jumper installed on the new SATA drive. (It's the only jumper I've used with SATA drives.)
Failing any of the above, if this is really a new disk - as in you just took it out of the box - you may have gotten a bad one.

Axles bearing manufacturing companies have been in tough competition with the scrap yards and junk yards. Why you ask? The answer to this question is simply that the axle bearing companies feel scrap yards are taking away their customers from them. If you ask many car owners what they prefer they say they rather go to a scrap yard and pick out the axle bearings rather than go to these companies and purchase them. It’s all about the price factor here. These companies are trying to keep up with the growing price reduction demands of the customers and car owners. These companies feel that in order to keep up they have to make a decision to comply with the market demands.
Well but today these companies have a platform where they can reach out to consumers and car owners and sell their product to them successful. This platform is internet. The internet has helped these companies bloom. These companies are able to do a lot like offering great amount of information regarding their product, a compared analysis of their product along with other company product and also they are now able to give them advice on to fix these parts just in case they want to save money by not going to the auto repair shop. They are also able to give them great deals and grantees programs on these programs making most of these consumers loyal to their company Scrap yards find themselves at the bottom of the priority table. People only go there when there is no other option available.

I pulled an axle from an 8.8 Ford rear in a town car that had wrecked the r. axle bearing, the axle LOOKED.. ?
..fine, no scoring, grooves. I did not mic. it. I reinstalled a new outer bearing and seal, it fit tight in the housing end, and the axle into the carrier, but the axle still has too much play.
The owner of the car is a friend and he says he'll get another axle to try, but I wondered about some difference in the 8.8 axle diameters between years? Another mechanic had changed the same bearing shortly before the owner brought it by ands said it only lasted for a couple days. I guess it could look smooth but still be worn out, I was trying to save him a couple bucks.
Thats what trying to save money causes

glass tile installation?
I have selected 2 inch frosted glass tile for the backsplash behind the cooktop and I have hired a professional installer. I have two issues. One is that he says the grout lines are small and the job does not need to be sealed because it will make the grout darker. And two...when he cut the tile for the sides and corners, the color came off the back and he is telling me I need to have a moulding installed to hide these pieces that have lost their color.. He says all glass tile loses it's color when cut into small pieces. What's up? Should I go back to the manufacturerregarding the color loss, and should I insist that it be sealed to protect against grease and splashes.
find someone else, sounds like bull to me

98 jeep grand cherokee pitman arm removal?
i have tryed everything. i have a pitman arm puller and even hooked up the air tool to the end and it will not pull the arm off. HELP!!
I spray the sector shaft/arm down with penetrating oil before,during,after applying the puller but your past that. Once you have the bolt tight grab a big hammer and wack the puller bolt head. This is usually enough to unseat it and it'll fall on the ground.

Where is a Harmonic balancer located in a car?
I want to buy this Buick LeSabre but it says it needs a harmonic balancer. I want to buy it but if its going to be too much work to put it in then i dont want it. Some one know a ball park how much it would be to put one in or where its located at?
The harmonic balancer (or crankshaft dampener) is the main, large, heavy pulley assembly mounted on the end of the crankshaft that drives the fan belts for the rest of the engine (alternator, A/C, power steering, etc.) and helps to dampen the crankshaft vibrations. It is usually in the front of the engine unless your engine is sideways. Often times what happens is the thin rubber piece (the dampener) between the inner and outer metal pieces becomes hard and brittle and if any oil, or especially antifreeze, gets on it, it wicks in between the rubber and metal surfaces and allows the two metal pieces to slip on the rubber out of alignment and the belts come off because they are no longer in line with the other components. I've replaced these before for that very reason and there was no other engine problems associated (the cars were driven for many years afterwards), so unless they say there are any other problems you should be fine. As for replacing it, it could be rather easy or very hard depending on the year, engine size and other accessories that would need moving. You should call around to repair shops to get an idea of cost to replace it (they will need the year and engine size in addition to the make and model.)

Know About Weight Lifting Tips
Your muscles need 48 hours to recover after a weight training workout. During this period the muscle development you are training for takes place – each time you work them out your muscles should come back that bit stronger. You need to allow the time for this muscle recovery and should leave at least 48 hours after working a muscle before you work it again.
Caution should be exercised if the hand-behind-the-head position is used during sit-ups or crunches. Don't confuse neck movement for spine articulation. Some individuals with a higher risk of neck injury may need to keep their neck in a neutral position so the added weight can be placed on the upper chest, just below the neck. Incidentally the chance of neck injury may be increased when the exerciser places the hands higher behind the head and attempts to throw the body upward, jerking the head forward with greater force than to which the neck is accustomed.
Most important thing you need to do before starting any weight lifting exercise. You, and you alone, need to determine exactly what it is that you want to get out of your weight lifting exercise routine. Is it losing a specific amount of fat? Building strength or lean muscle? Is it for an athletic event? Is it to improve your physical appearance? Is it to improve your health? The bottom line is that you have to determine exactly what it is you want to accomplish.
Most people think why grip and what the heck are finishers? I focus all my clients on real world strength or functional strength. By training the grip you will have more wrist control (less injury) and also you will be able to focus more and that will allow you to recruit more muscle fibers thus making you stronger. Finishers are stuff that is functional. After a hard leg session go out and push your car around the block. I have my clients do plate clean and press, carry sand bags either in front of them or on there shoulder, or do the dreaded Drill Instructor special (this consists of 5-10 minutes of push ups, situps, jumping jacks, deep knee bends, and running in place). Principle of progressive overload.
One of the fundamentals of resistance exercise is Progressive overload means that you increase the workload gradually over time as your muscles accommodate to the resistance with the objective of gaining strength and/or mass. For example, suppose that you've been lifting biceps curls for two weeks with 12 pounds, 10 repetitions, and then at week three, 12 pounds is easy and you can lift more. According to the principle of progressive overload, at this point, you would increase the weight if strength improvement is your goal. Your strength will remain the same if you keep the weight the same.
Pre-Fatigue Technique - This technique is when the smaller muscle group is
completely fatigued before super-setting with the compound movement. That way the larger muscles will take over and force the already fatigued smaller muscle group to complete more repetitions. Thus, an overload response occurs. A great example of this is doing leg extensions to momentary muscle failure followed immediately by leg presses.
Along the same lines, don't lift more weight than you are capable of, especially if there is no spotter on hand. You can seriously injure yourself, and it could end your lifting career. Unless you are competing, try to stick with weights you can do at least 5-6 reps with without killing yourself. You'll get the same results as you would have struggling to push out one rep.

How do you crack a growth plate?
I do weight lifting, I am 15, 5'10, 140lb, I know I need to gain more pounds but I was wondering if weight lifting stunts your growth? My family says it does, but im not sure, I want to be atleast 6'1, but I dont wanna stunt my growth doing that. So how do you crack one? I really don't want to.
Lifting weights is great, especially for a 15 year old guy with a frame of 5'10", 140lbs. But, I would say it's important to start out with higher reps. Maybe 3 sets of 15 reps. If you lift too hard while you're still growing, it could put too much pressure on your bones. I believe one should never go down the path of power training (2 or 3 reps per set) until at least going through the late teen growth spurt. My opinion.
The growth plates are less dense than the rest of the bone, so when you stress your bone, the growth plate is where the micro fractures (or major fractures) would occur. The body adapts by adding more bone density to the areas being overly stressed. As growth plates become more dense, they slow down and eventually stop growing. It happens naturally as we age, but it also happens prematurely when people break growth plates or by consistently putting too much stress in those areas.
If you keep lifts at lower weights, higher reps... no problems.
I know there will be some out there that disagree.. I'm basing my answer on what I learned while being a 3 year anatomy/physiology T.A. at a university.. and my training as a health & phys. ed. teacher... for whatever that's worth.
