How hard is it to remove a Bristol air compressor.....no freon in unit. I need to put it in my unit.?
Air compressors are not supposed to have freon in them. And if your compressor is indeed in need of freon , you need to determine what caused the leak and repair that first. Then with the proper gauge set and refrigerant in hand ( of course you are licensed to purchase refrigerant ) you hook up your hoses and install the required amount as per specifications. Or you could just get a professional to do it safely

Amost 15 Millions People Took Dip In A Holy River Ganga
Nearly 1.45 crore (almost 15 millions) sumtimes I just get surprised to read such kind of news...well, Indian pilgrims took a dip in the Ganga today,the day of the last royal bath during the Mahakumbh in Haridwar.
Meanwhile 5 pilgrims including 3 women and a girl, were killed after being hit by a car carrying Naga Sadhus at Birla Ghat bridge area.The accident took place this morning when the procession of Joona Akhara was approaching towards Har-Ki-Pauri and the crowd lined up along the road to witness it and was hit by the car. Nine others were also injured in the incident.
The health office at the Mahakumbh Mela said seven persons had died today.However, it was not clear whether all the seven persons were killed in the accident or died in separate incidents.After the mishap, Sadhus belonging to Joona and Niranjani Akhara did not proceed towards Har-Ki-Pauri, the main bathing ghat. Their procession returned to their camps and they took bath along with their deities at their private ghats only.
Later, sadhus of three more Akharas of Agni, Aahwan and Anand also joined Joona and Niranjani Akharas and did not take bath at Har-Ki-Pauri.However, sadhus belonging to Mahanirvani, Nirmohi Ani, Digambar Ani and Nirwani ani reached Har-Ki-Pauri in the form of a procession and took their dip.
Other ghats in Haridwar and Rishikesh were full with pilgrims, who had gathered here from across the country to take the blessings of Ganga during the Mahakumbh.The mela administration made elaborate security arrangements for the fourth and last royal bath of the Mahakumbh with 25 companies of PAC, 20 companies of RPF, 10 companies each of RAF and ITBP being deployed at the mela area.

Should I wear an athletic cup when I go skydiving?
I'm just getting into skydiving and want to pursue it as far as I can. I'm getting ready for my 3rd tandem and then it's on to assisted jumps. I noticed on my first two tandems that things can get pretty darn snug in the groin area as you are decelerating during canopy deployment. The first time felt a lot worse than the second, perhaps the canopy opened much faster the first time or maybe it's just my perception that differed. Anyways, I was wondering if it's a good idea to wear an athletic cup when going skydiving so that nothing gets damaged by the harness straps that go between the legs.
Totally unnecessary. I've never worn one, or known anyone who does. Nothing gets damaged if the harness fits properly.

Offshore Jobs - What it Takes to Succeed Working on an Offshore Oil Rig
In this article we are going to outline what it takes to get hired and succeed in an offshore job and career, even if you don't have previous offshore experience. We will discuss what it takes to succeed in an offshore job and career.
Offshore work is NOT for everyone, nor for the faint of heart. If you miss your pet rock after 3 days, then this career path is not for you. It is a bit like joining the Army - it's not just a job, it's an adventure - and it is. The places you can go and see once you are an offshore 'veteran' boggle the mind: The North Sea, Australia, Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Alaska, and the World. There are no limits, and the future will have exploration going to the extreme, as the big fields in Saudi Arabia, the North Sea, and Mexico go into terminal decline.
Even if you have never worked on an oil rig before, it is still quite possible to get hired for an offshore job, providing you are flexible in what kind of starting work you are willing to accept. For example, many drilling hands and crew actually got their starts as galley hands! How? They hung around, got to know the rigging and drilling crews, and when a roustabout opening came up, they were first in line.
There is truth in the adage that when it comes to employment, who you know is as important as what you know - and getting to know the people you want to work with and for is actually a better route to getting hired than simply interviewing well with strangers (though that is important as well).
More than specific skill sets, it takes a special breed to really make a living at this. A lot of folks work one or two 'hitches' then call it quits. Those who stay and take full advantage of everything a career working offshore has to offer generally have the following traits, and if you are serious, then so should you:
- You are willing and able to work long hours for 2 - 4 weeks straight. One of the appeals of working offshore is being able to have long periods off. Having long periods ON goes with that, and you need to be able to handle working 12 hour days without a day off for up to a month. Most would find that a bit crazy - and it is.
- You enjoy having 2 - 4 weeks off at a time. Not everyone likes having free time for those extended periods; they get bored, listless, and anxious. So be sure you are the type of person who loves free time, and have enough hobbies and interests beyond work (i.e., a life) to keep busy when you're not working your butt off out on the platforms.
- You enjoy traveling. There are two types of people in this world - Settlers and Pioneers. This is a job experience for the Pioneer types, who want to go somewhere just for the sake of going. If you are a homebody, forget about it - this is NOT for you. Strange and new places await those who launch on this career path, and you have to enjoy that sort of thing to really make it in this industry.
- You work well with others. You are going to be working in close quarters with people from all over the world for up 2 - 4 weeks at a time. It is essential to be able to get along with those different from yourself, moreover, to enjoy working with those from different cultures and backgrounds. If you like this sort of thing, you will do quite well, and enjoy your hitches a great deal. If you don't like this sort of thing, stay home!
- You enjoy hard, crazy work in extreme environments. Offshore work is the Extreme Sports of the job market. It can be a little crazy on a platform when the waves are 40 feet high and the winds can blow you off if you aren't careful. The work is very demanding, and the weather is usually irrelevant. For the most part, when hurricanes hit, you'll be evacuated. Usually even in time. Hence, the safety training before you set foot on a rig, which we will cover in a later issue.
- You are able to handle close quarters and limited recreational opportunities for extended periods of time. There isn't really anywhere to go on an offshore platform - it's not like you can take a long walk. You have your quarters, the mess hall, and recreation areas. But modern rigs are actually pretty nice - weight rooms, saunas, mini-theatres, game rooms, and a lot of other amenities. The food is great, and it's all you can eat. Real Chefs work on these rigs, and they love to make the crew smile. Good food is a real pleasure when you have put in 12 hours and are two weeks into your hitch.
If this is you, or you think it could be you, then you have passed the first hurdle - that of self-knowledge. KNOWING you can do this is essential; that confidence, desire and ambition will show in the interview, and get you in the door regardless of experience.

I forgot to put the windage tray in the oil galley in my 427 FE?
Im rebuilding it and just as i finished bolting down the intake manifold I noticed the windage tray sitting right next to the motor. Is this bad? are the windage trays in the oil galley even necessary since I have solid lifters and a high volume oil pump?
The engineers that designed, tested, and produced the engine put it there for a reason.

I own (out-right) a 2005 Chevy Colorado ext. cab Z71 with 67k mi. Should I trade it for a 2002 Honda CR-V AWD with 140k mi (one-owner)? I've owned a CR-V before and really like them. I have a bad habbit of trading cars a lot though. I'd like to find the perfect all-arounder to keep for some time. My truck is worth about $7k and for that money I am having trouble finding a good CR-V without a ton of miles or very old. I'd like to be able to put stuff inside the vehicle and also carry more than 2 people. The truck has been handy, but shouldn't be needing it much more...the wife owns a truck too.

Does anyone make a network link tester that will pull a DHCP IP address?
I have a linkcheck from smartronix but it only tells me if a drop is hot. I would like a small tool to pull an IP so I know the VLAN the drop is on so I don't have to carry around a laptop. I know Fluke makes a $500+ model but I was looking for somthing cheaper
Well "Test-UM" makes a nice little unit that does this. The NT700 - I haven't tried it but I do have some other of the tools they make and they work great.

Refrigerant Leak Detector And Finding Leaks In Your Air Conditioner
As summer approaches, it is time to start thinking about our car's air conditioning system and if it is working properly. One of the most common problems with an A/C system is refrigerant leaks and locating them. Finding the source of the leak can be a tedious and time consuming. The leaking Freon could come literally anywhere in the system from tubing to a accumulator to a tiny pressure switch gone bad. The EPA has made it much more stringent rules in dealing with refrigerant leaks. The days of topping off the air conditioner with a few cans of R12 are long over. Now even small leaks must found and corrected. Here comes technology to the rescue. There are several methods air conditioning repair shops employ to locate and fix refrigerant leaks. Each method has its pros and cons and their use depends on the situation. The three most commonly used are a electronic refrigerant leak detector, ultraviolet dye leak detection kit, and ultrasonic leak detector units.
Electronic Refrigerant Leak Detectors
Electronic Refrigerant Leak Detectors are the quickest and easiest to use of the three methods. Most of the time you will have no idea where the refrigerant is leaking and have to narrow down the possible areas. A electronic refrigerant leak detector can get you very close to the location of the leak and from there you can get more precise. Some of the better models will allow to crank up the sensitivity once you get the area found. For very small leaks you can wrap the suspected area in cling wrap or a rag to try and contain the refrigerant. When you unwrap the area, put in the refrigerant leak detector and see if you get a reading. Remember, refrigerant is heavier than air and it will sink to the ground. It is best to sniff under tubing and compartments when looking for it.
Ultrasonic Leak Detectors
These are state of the art leak detectors and are the newest tool to find refrigerant leaks. They operate on the principle of sound detection. Instead of sniffing for refrigerant gas they listen for the sound it makes as Freon escapes the system. To use an ultrasonic leak detector the system should be pressured in order for the refrigerant to leak out and make noise. Also, the work area must be totally silent. Remember it is looking for sound and no background noise is imperative. This is the main drawback to using an ultrasonic leak detector. Very few auto shops are quiet enough to use it effectively.
Ultraviolet Dye Leak Detectors
This third method ultraviolet dye is injected into the air conditioning system and in theory should escape with the refrigerant. Commonly, an auto shops have an ultraviolet leak detection kit that has all of the tools necessary to complete this task. Generally these kits come with ultraviolet lamp or ultraviolet flashlight, a dye injector, safety glasses and ultraviolet dye. This method is the most technically complex of the three and is the messiest. You have to inject the ultraviolet dye into the system and wait for it to leak out. The dye can be messy and get all over the place. It gets in you're A/C system, your refrigerant manifold gauges and you. However once you shine your ultraviolet flashlight and spot the leak, you usually can see exactly where it is.
Each method has its pro and cons. For the beginner, I would recommend an electronic refrigerant leak detector and the professional auto shop would be better served with an ultraviolet leak detection kit.

What all do I need for a A/C leak detction?
Can you fill up the system and use a halon or hydrocarbon detector? Does that work for small leaks?
To pressurize with Nitrogen, I need a vacuum pump and frean canister, then what kind of leak detector do I use?
I am EPA certified but I'm vague on some of the specifics. Right now I offer recharges but would like to also do leak checking.
Soapy water is more than adequate. Unless you suspect a very slow leak.
