I am looking for a kind of valve for an air hose system.?
I am doing a project and need to know what a certain kind of valve is called. This will be hooked up to a standard 1/4 in compressor hose. The valve is closed normally. When you push the two parts of the valve together it opens and lets air through. It is kind of similar to the action a small blowgun would have, except the air flow is from pushing the valve together rather than pushing down on a lever. Any ideas?
It's a 2 part spring loaded check valve. Spring keeps a ball or plug against a sealing surface in the body. The other part has a rod or plunger protruding and when you push together, this pushes on the plug or ball, against the spring pressure, opening the valve to air flow. You can find it at an appropriate store that deals with air compressors and paint spray equipment

When your old garden hose is worn and in poor repair, don't throw it out. Garden hoses can be used in a number of ways and will remain useful long after they cease being used for watering your lawn.
Here are just a few inspiring ideas for your old hoses:
Protect Young Trees: When supporting young trees, cut a piece of garden hose and run wire through to attach to support stakes. The hose prevents the wire from damaging your saplings.
Earwig Trap: Earwigs love to hide in small, dark places. Place 6-inch pieces of hose in your garden to attract these nasty insects. Later shake them free into a bucket of soapy water.
Garage Buffers: Especially helpful for new drivers in the household, screw lengths of hose at bumper level to corners of the garage door frame to prevent unsightly dents in the trim.
Soaker Hoses: Make your own soaker hose by crimping the open end and drilling some holes throughout the hose. Bury it just under the soil around your plants and fill with water. It will keep your plants watered for days.
Water Level: Walter Reeves, the host of TV's Garden Sense, transformed his garden hose into a giant water level in order to set an even grade for his patio. He attached 3-foot pieces of clear vinyl to each end of the hose and filled it with colored water.
Tool Hanger: Halve a 2 foot segment of hose and screw both ends to a wall. It creates a hanger that will hug the handles of your tools.
Blade Protector: Slit a length of hose and slide it over the teeth edge of your handsaw to protect the blade when not in use. This also works great with knife or ice skate blades.
Bucket Handle: Slip a piece of hose through the wire handle of a bucket or paint can to provide a better grip.
Swing Protector: Slide a length of swing-set chains through garden hose to protect little fingers when swinging.
Faucet Extension: Bury lengths of linked hose underground to relocate an outdoor spigot to a more useable location.
Snake Scare: Create a snake decoy to frighten away annoying flocks of birds. Cut a short length of hose and lay it on the grass in a snake position. It fools them everytime.
Downspout De-Clogger: Push the hose up through a clogged downspout allowing the water from the gutter to drain and carry away any trapped debris.
Play Telephone: Make an old-fashioned play telephone for the kids. Cut a length of hose and attach a funnel to each end with duct tape. Let the kids chat all they want.
Landscaping Tool: When laying out a new garden, use a length of garden hose to create the initial outline and then dig around it.
Curve Sander: Hose works great as a sanding tool for tight curves such as trim or crown molding. Take a length of hose, split it lengthwise and insert one edge of the sandpaper. Wrap it around the hose, trim to fit and insert the other end in the slit. Close the slit with some duct tape and get sanding!

What is the best way to disconnect the fitting on the end of the alumunim part of the heater hose.?
It runs up over the passenger side valve cover into the top of the block right below the throttle body, and the fitting on the end of the aluminum/steel piece of hose where it connects to that part of the block is very tight and very hard to get loose to remove it. It's on a 1987 S10 2.8L V6.
I need to get the steel pipe part out of the top of the block.
these are press in they are tuff to get out as they arnt designed to remove you wiggle them around and it will come out eventually

Secret Green Car Detailing Products the Pros Use
Keeping your car looking as beautiful as the day you drove it off the lot can be a full-time job if you're not careful with your time. With so many different car detailing products on the market, knowing which ones to use where can seem a bit daunting, especially for the new car owner.
Most of the traditional car cleaning products on the market today are full of toxic and petrochemicals that are not healthy for you and your family to breathe, or for mother earth. As a general rule of thumb, this is the best order in which to be cleaning your vehicle when you're working inside and out in a detailed manner:

Step 2: Vacuum Remove the floor mats and vacuum. Using your vacuum's crevice and upholstery tools, vacuum the floors and the crevices between the seats, console, dash, seats and vents. If you do this on a regular basis, the job will take you less than 5 minutes.

Garden hose: Flat "fire man" reel up hose vs. normal hose?
I was out shopping and realized I need a new hose. I hate the standard water hose because it always gets kinked up. So I saw this "as seen on tv" hose that's made from the same stuff as the fireman's hose.
Any of youalls had a negative experience from that one?
A rolled up hose ain't gonna cut the mustard. You need to have a stretched out hose to put a beaver fire out!

Why don't these northern cities get with the program and build (at least) retractable dome stadiums?
As a baseball fan I am totally puzzled that these northern cities (PHILADELPHIA!!!!!) does not have some type of domed facility. The open air stadiums are really nice and traditional but it doesn't make sense this time of year!! With the price of tickets nowadays it would seem more logical ALL THE WAY AROUND to have fields with a roof of some kind............Your thoughts?

So what you are saying is that northern fans will continue to try and watch playoff and W/S baseball in cold rainy conditions and not really ENJOY the game!?
If a city can afford a team, they can afford a domed stadium.......
the purist in me will state "the game is was designed to be played outdoors... and (i might add) in the daylight!"
but to appeal to the largest number of fans, major league baseball now plays longer seasons (162, not 154) than before, leading to november world series games, and night games in the playoffs instead of only daytime ones to allow employees and students to enjoy them. i think these facts are more responsible for the poor weather conditions we're seeing during the 2008 fall (ha!) classic than the lack of domes.
cold and rain have been parts of the postseason experience in new york, boston, denver, detroit. retractable roofs as found in milwaukee and toronto for some reason wind up being closed on even pleasant spring and fall days. the twins, mets, yankees all have plans for new outdoor open-air only stadiums being built in the near future. the cost is a part of the reason, but the experience of outdoor baseball under the sun and stars (and yes, sometimes rain) makes the risk worth it.
i would sit and freeze if my team were playing... and love it!

I want to buy an Air Compressor that can do Pressure Washing as well?
Does anyone make an air compression that can be used as a pressure washer as well? I've looked at a few that has a air/water gun. But its only 100psi. A regular pressure washer has at least 1500psi. Why don't they make an air compressor that can produce pressure washing at 1500psi?

Hose Reels – Winter Gardening Ideas
Are you an avid gardener stuck in the middle of a cold and snowy winter? Looking out the window at your beautiful garden covered in snow can be very depressing. Take a break from cold and go do something positive for your garden. Options are limited for winter gardening but there is one thing that can be done year round and that is shopping. Hose reels are the latest innovation for the home garden.
Hose Reels – What are they?
Hose Reels are a cylindrical device around which many types of hoses can be manually or mechanically wound. Most hose reels feature a side-mounted handle for manual winding and unwinding. Some utilize electric, spring or air (pneumatic) power to unwind and wind the hosing with minimum effort. The purpose of hose reels is to keep hoses neat when not in use and kink free when being used. Hoses lying out are a tripping hazard to employees and customers. Hose Reels prevent this danger and also prolong the life of the hose.
Hose Reels – Winding and Unwinding
Hose reels have different winding options. A manual hose reel has no automatic retraction mechanism but is equipped with a hand-turned crank. A motor powers the retraction mechanism in electric, hydraulic and pneumatic hose reels. In a spring reel, an internal spring is used to retract the hose. In some spring hose reels, the spring motor is hermetically sealed to completely isolate it from dirt and moisture. Many Hose Reels come with a latching mechanism that assures positive extension stop and easy retraction at any length. It should be noted that we do not recommend these types of hose reels for home use as they can be dangerous when mixing electricity with water. There are also automatic hose reels which use the power of the water flowing through the hose to self wind. These hose reels do not require any electricity and are the best way to automatically wind up a hose.
Hose reels are manufactured to meet requirements for a variety of applications. Smaller versions are able to house smaller diameter and lighter hosing such as garden hoses. Hose reels used for fire department and construction hoses are built to be larger and more rigid to support the extra length and load. There are certain reels that are utilized solely for transportation and others that are used for transportation and storage. Some hose reels allow the use of the hose while it is still wound up. These hose reels provide easy access and storing efficiency, which is what draws consumers towards them.

1999 Ford Taurus blow cool air instead of heat. check heater core hose both side cold, how to bleed the line?
no heat i checked heater core input and out put are cold, think it was glogged but ran water through the heater core water flow okay, need to know how to breed the line or how to check pressure?
To check the pressure, you need a radiator pressure tester, cost 150.00 - 400 dollars, still want to buy one. ok, check the thermostat, it may be stuck open, you will need to replace it or could be water pump.

ANother sloppy condenser install - Can't access hi side!

Is there a better way to attach a tin elbow/hose to a dryer outlet than a metal/plastic clamp or duct tape?
The dryer outlet is only ~1/2" long and inadequate to get a snug fit between a 4" tin elbow/hose when using a clamp. The clamp isn't designed to tighten at any angle in relation to the pipe, and any extension easily falls off. Duct tape doesn't work either as this gets damp and loses its sticking properties. I've tried a plastic extension in the past, but found the adhesive ring to have the same problem, because the extension can only "hang on" with the 1/2" available on the dryer outlet. I'd rather not resort to superglue... please help.

How do I fix my garden hose reel?
I have a crank garden hose reel. Whenever I turn on the water, the hose that is connected to the case becomes disconnected.
Are you talking about the short hose that goes from the reel to the faucet? If so, then the problem might be with the connector. The threads on it might be stripped or worn and won't make a good connection anymore. Solution: replace the connector.

How much would it cost to repair a leaking oil hose or is it possible to do it myself?
A buddy of mine wants to get rid of a 1998 Saab 900. The problem is that it has an oil hose line thats leaking oil. How much would it cost to send it to a repair shop and fix. Or can I fix it myself and if so, how??

Just buy a new oil line and fit it yourself. cheapest is to go to a hose Specialist and they will make one up
