How to stop guitar string buzzing in the nut.?
I have a guitar that was handmade. I don't know what kind of nut or strings came on it. It was $900. I changed the strings to Ernie Ball Regular Slinkies. The buzz comes from the nut when the E a or d strings are played open.
When you play a bar chord on the first fret , is the sound clean ? If yes, then the problem is the fingerboard nut. It would need to have a shim placed underneath it to solve the problem.
Or, replace the nut completely. The grooves are probably too deep. For the price you paid, THAT should have never happened and the nut should be real bone and not PLASTIC.
What you do is loosen the strings, and remove them rom the nut. Use a file or a ruler, and lightly tap with a knife handle or hammer.
Place a piece of vinly (1/16" think max) underneath the nut. Put the nut on the vinyl but don't glue it yet.
Tighten the string and tune to pitch. If the sound is good. Loosen the string and use carpenters glue to glue the vinyl piece to the nut . Apply glue at the end of the fingerboard and push the nut against it. The strings will hold it in place.

For healthy cast iron cooking, you must season your cast iron pans well. It is advisable to coat the interior and exterior of the pan with vegetable oil before heating it in the oven for at least one hour. You may do this several times before using. This allows the pans to become stick-resistant; otherwise, it might rust every time it is washed. When cleaning, this has to be washed with detergent and must not be scrubbed in order not to ruin the seasoning.
A sizzling drop of water on the pan indicates that one can start cooking. Usually, medium heat is needed for optimal cooking standards. These pans may also be used on the stovetop or inside the oven. Cooking with cast iron also adds a little bit of flavour to your food because of the iron, which is not bad. But it is advised against use for deep-frying because it can hasten the oxidation of fat, causing it to be rancid. Other than that, you have nothing else to worry about with this kind of cooking. There are so many options when using cast iron for your cooking, making your whole kitchen experience easy and enjoyable. Don't let cooking be a chore, put your heart into it. Can Eating Nuts Help You Lower Risk of Heart Disease?
Several large studies have linked nuts to lower heart disease risk and longer life. In the landmark Nurses' Health Study, for instance,women who ate the most nuts (about 5 oz per week) had half the risk of heart attack as those who rarely ate them. Although the power sources in nuts is unclear, researchers suggest that their unsaturated fats, magnesium, copper, folic acid, protein, potassium, fiber, and vitamin E may all play a part.
The type of nut you eat isn't that important. Almost every type of nut has a lot of nutrition packed into small package, walnuts, almonds and hazelnuts. If you have heart disease, eating nuts instead of a less healthy snack can help you more easily follow a heart-healthy diet.
Most studies on public who consume nuts as part of a heart-healthy diet have found that nuts lower the LDL, low-density lipoprotein or "bad" cholesterol level in the blood. High LDL is the main causes of heart disease, so nuts' aptitude to lower LDL cholesterol looks to be beneficial.
Consumption of nuts lessens your possibility of developing blood clots that capable of cause a fatal heart attack. Nuts also improve the health of the lining of your arteries. Is there a way to fix bent mini blinds?
My toddler got ahold of the blinds in our brand new apartment and bent them a little on the ends. Is there any kind of neat little trick to getting them straight again?
I'm afraid not. One that plastic is bent, it's done. Just leave them up and let him/her wreck them until he/she is old enough to know better, then replace them. Sorry.

Is carb gel an apropriate tool to use during a 13k?
It's my first race. I didn't know if it was only for marathons or not
Unless you are going to be running more than 2 hours you do not need to consume any food during a race.
Eat complex carbohydrates the night before, go easy on meats and milk or dairy, stay hydrated.
Run relaxed, don't start out too fast, go at your pace.
This is fairly long for a first race, don't be intimidated if you have done the training it will be the same as your runs.
Don't get caught up in the mad dash at the start and run too fast, because after about 5 miles it will come back to haunt you.

Boot Camp for New Dads Offers Tips for Taking Care of Moms-to-be
Bishop, who founded Boot Camp for New Dads in 1990 and has helped to prepare more than 200,000 men for fatherhood over the years, offers important advice from his second book, Crash Course for New Dads: Tools, Checklists and Cheat Sheets on how to support a mom-to-be:
Communicate. Make it a point to talk to each other about your thoughts, concerns about the new baby and plans for the future. Even if mom seems to be handling pregnancy well, talking about what is happening now and in the future is the best way for you to prepare to be a family.
Get moving. Forego sitting around watching television. Take walks together. Not only will this physically benefit the both of you, it will also open the lines of communication.
Show her you care. Pregnancy is the time to take it up a notch and get even more creative in showing her how much you care about her and the baby. For example, if she has a craving for ice cream, call her from the ice cream store and read her the flavors. Paint the nursery with rainbows. You get the idea.
Help her cope. Moms-to-be will experience countless physical and emotional changes. You can help her through this by becoming more knowledgeable about her symptoms. Take the initiative and read some of her favorite pregnancy books. If she doesn’t have any books yet, be a hero and make the trip to the bookstore or library and ask the staff for recommendations.
Let her lean on you. The physical and emotional impacts of pregnancy may be intense and she is going to depend on you to help her get through the roughest times. From cravings to morning sickness, intense backaches and more, she’ll benefit from you comforting her and helping her to hold it all together.
Accompany her to the doctor. This is the single most important thing you can do during pregnancy, as visits with the obstetrician get you personally connected with what’s going on with mom and your baby. Keep the focus on mom and make sure she is getting all her questions answered.
“Every mom-to-be will experience a unique rollercoaster of physical and emotional changes. Dads have the important job of taking care of mom before, during and after the birth of their child,” explained Bishop. “During pregnancy, dads tend to serve as the ‘punching bag’ for all moms’ frustrations. Be patient and understanding. Don’t get drawn into arguments and try to show her the lighter side of things. Laughter can relieve a lot of stress.”

New Dads Learn What to Expect at Boot Camp Workshops
Dads-to-be will be better equipped to face the challenges and opportunities of fatherhood after attending a Boot Camp “hands on” educational workshop. Men attend the class when they are expecting their first baby, and are joined in the workshop by “veterans” who had previously attended and have returned with their two to four-month-old baby in tow. Green Tea and Its Weight Loss Connection
Green tea in a bottle, powder, and capsules! It seems like overnight the new sensation is how it is associated with weight loss. If you are like some people you may be skeptical of this latest trend, and rightfully so. How many times have you been sold on an ancient formula that did nothing for you or worse yet was actually bad for you? Just about, everyone has fallen into the marketing hype once or more. This time look into the claims of the marketers before you place your hard-earned money on the line.
Evidence of Green Tea and Weight Loss Connection
While it is true that many people of Asian descent are small thin people and green tea is produced in Asia, however is that enough to draw the conclusion that tea and weight loss go hand in hand? Not necessarily, but it is not a bad place to start.
Nevertheless, you are probably more interested in some cold facts than loose connections. Fair enough, let us examine some of the claims of it has on weight loss and see if there is any substantial proof to back them up.
Metabolism
Merchants are touting the idea that green tea gives a boost to the metabolism. That is it increases the number of calories you burn without you doing any exercise. While that claim may sound fantastic, some research shows it could be true.
In a study in published in the Journal of Clinical Nutrition it was found that metabolic rate was increased for individuals that received a tea extract. Japanese women who received the concentrate experienced a 10% increase in energy.
Fat Loss
A rise in metabolism is all good and well but what about the claims that it will actually help you lose fat? One possible way that it affects weight loss is in blood sugar stabilization. After you eat the pancreas releases insulin to regulate sugar levels. Sharp spikes in insulin results in fat storage. The catchins in green tea work to regulate blood sugar and therefore decrease insulin release and in turn fat storage.
Appetite
In addition to all the benefits discussed above is appetite suppression. Researchers at the University of Chicago found that rats injected with the extract consumed 60% less food than they did had before. This is probably another effect of the blood sugar leveling ability of green tea.
Conclusion
Apparently, from the many studies that have been done, some of which were talked about here, there is evidence that green tea and weight loss go hand in hand. There are many areas affecting weight that green tea has shown promise.
Realistically though do not expect to drink green tea on top of a 4000 calorie diet and expect to lose weight. In fact, while there are many benefits of green tea when it comes to weight loss you should never rely totally on one substance for all your dieting needs. Green tea added to a sensible diet and moderate exercise is your best plan for speedy weight loss.

Healthy pet food: The best way to choose from all
Just looking at the pet food ads on TV and in magazines, you’d get the impression that all commercial pet foods are healthy. All those fresh ingredients could tempt you to try these pet foods yourself! Unfortunately, the truth about most pet foods may be far from what artful ads would have us believe. If you’ve ever opened a pet food can that was marketed as healthy, and then found a glob of unrecognizable, grayish something-or-other, then you probably know what I mean.
Now, if you’re already aware that not all pet food commercials and ads live up to their promises, you should ask yourself a simple question: how can I tell if a particular pet food is healthy? The answer to this is often hidden in plain sight, on the pet food label, often in the midst of a bunch of unfamiliar terms. To do well for your pet, you need to be able to interpret pet food labels correctly.
First and foremost, healthy pet foods contain real food ingredients.
Healthy commercial pet foods are made from natural food ingredients that reflect the needs of the pet for which the foods are intended. Remember that ingredients are listed in the order of their relative quantity in the pet food. Healthy dog and cat foods should contain animal-derived products as their first ingredients. The quality of these ingredients is absolutely essential to the health of your pet. If you see terms like ‘chicken meal’, ‘fish meal,’ ‘animal by-products,’ or ‘animal fat,’ you should know that these ingredients are of extremely low quality. Better choices are products that list terms that precisely describe the ingredient, such as chicken, cod, or animal parts, such as chicken heart or beef liver. Finally, the addition of synthetic chemicals should be kept to a minimum, as most of the available pet food supplements added routinely to pet foods are of low or questionable quality and value.
Second, healthy pet foods are certified organic.
This is true quite simply because organic ingredients are both safer and healthier for your pet. Organic ingredients are safer because their production and processing precludes by regulation the use of toxic manufacturing and processing chemicals. These include agricultural pesticides, fertilizers such as sewage sludge, hormones and antibiotics used to raise livestock, and toxic chemicals used during manufacture, including among others, fumigants, pesticides, and corrosive sanitizers. As well, organic ingredients can never include genetically engineered foods (some of which have been implicated in a variety of health problems, such as allergies or reproductive disorders). Increasingly, studies have shown that organic ingredients are healthier than their conventional counterparts, not only because they are free of toxic residues and diligently processed, but also because they contain more nutrients, including vitamins, antioxidants, minerals, and critically important trace elements.
However, you should be aware that only USDA certified organic claims are regulated and enforced by Federal law; other non-certified organic claims cannot be verified by an unbiased third party.
Third, healthy pet foods are made of human-grade quality ingredients.
Although it doesn’t seem to make much sense, there are both USDA certified organic ingredients for human consumption and USDA certified organic ingredients for animals (examples are eggs, peas, etc). The latter are called ‘feed-grade’ ingredients, and are approved for the use solely in pet foods. Feed-grade ingredients are certainly of lower quality than human-grade ingredients. So, if you’re searching for a healthy pet food, look out for the descriptive word ‘human-grade’ on the pet food package! Never assume that pet food manufacturers are required to tell the consumer whether they use human-grade or feed-grade ingredients; they aren’t. But they most certainly will indicate if they use human-grade ingredients because these are of higher quality (a major selling point) and more expensive to produce (a justification for charging more for their product).
Fifth, healthy pet foods can be identified by the way they’re processed.
Even certified organic pet foods, containing all of the appropriate ingredients for a particular species of pet, are not necessarily healthy. Healthy pet foods must offer more than just organic certification and species appropriateness. They must also be processed in a manner that preserves the integrity and bioavailability of the nutrients in their ingredients. Heat-based processing, such as canning, baking or extruding food into nicely shaped kibble or biscuits, ruins the quality of many nutrients and can render even the best ingredients ‘lifeless’ and all but useless to your pet. Dehydration is a better way to process foods—but keep in mind that cats in particular don’t do well on dry food alone and that certain problems can even be associated with rehydrated pet foods that were previously dehydrated. If fresh foods are unavailable, the best choices among commercial pet foods are products that have been fresh-frozen. Of course, freezing is less convenient and more expensive for the manufacturer to ship and store, and those costs get passed down to you, the consumer. Nevertheless, keep in mind that this additional expense will almost certainly ensure that your pet will stay healthy longer, and will also save you the pain and financial burden of caring for a sick animal.
Finally, a pet shouldn’t live on one prepared pet food alone, even if it is healthy and nutritious.
No plant or animal can thrive on just one combination of nutrients. Variety is a must for your pet’s health and wellbeing, and you have the responsibility to provide this variety for your best friend. Just as you and your family would not live happily ever after on even the best quality ‘astronaut’ food (freeze-dried ice cream—blecchh!), your pet needs different foods to stay both healthy and happy! Since your pet has few choices of her own, it’s up to you to provide her with a variety of different safe and healthy USDA certified organic, human-grade, quality foods where ingredients have been processed in ways that are designed to preserve the endogenous nutrients. Your pet will thank you for your diligence and care!

will the oster (sp?) nail grinder kit work on my GSD?
I have been looking at a few of these kits on ebay and I cant tell if they will work for his huge nails the brand I mentioned is available close to me. I looked at a few others one store clamied they are a grooming shop and thier product would work but you just never know. Anyway anyone had any success with a particular grinder on a large breed
I don't know about that oster grinder, but as a professional groomer I know that the dremel is amazing...You can get a dremel from your local lowes or home depot. Even though the dremel is small power tool it is no different than the oster grinders except the cost to replace the heads on the dremel is much less expensive.
I bought one with many different speed settings and use it on dogs ranging from teeny tine yorkies to big newfoundlands. I have noticed that most dogs prefer the dremel over clipping because it doesn't create uncomfortable pressure.
You need to make sure you know how to properly grind a nail before using one, you can damage the nail and hurt the dog if you use too high of a speed.
