Dell Dimension 4600...why won't it turn on, and why are none of the diagnostic lights lit up on the back?
Dell said that we needed a new power supply, but that didn't work. There is a green light on the motherboard, but that is the only indication that the unit is receiving any power at all. Nothing happens when I press the power button. I fear I may need a new motherboard, but in the meantime, is there a way to transfer the files, pictures, and music onto another computer?
I have no idea what a USB drive enclosure is. I also don't know where my hard drive is located. Give me a break, I just opened up the dang thing. =)
Yes, but you have to remove the Harddrive from your computer and use a USB 2.0 to IDE drive adapter cable. With that you will be able to access the files on the harddrive. It is simple enough for those who do not have experience with computer.

I heard this saying once, but I can't remember how it goes.
It's something about a man who's car broke down and he needs to borrow a tire jack, but on the way he thinks of all these things that could go wrong. . . and the morale ends up being not to worry about things so far ahead of time.

The regular sheet garters come loose and are of no good. I once had some heavy duty sheet gatrers, like a duvae(sp) cover holder. They were great but that was a wife ago. Didn't get them in the divorce either. Where do I find them? I really don't want to break into my ex's house and take the old ones.
I've been looking for some new ones too. I can't find them anywhere anymore! I've checked online at Target, Walmart, Linens N Things, and Bed Bath and Beyond. I have no idea where to get them. An internet search turned up nothing as well! One in my set just broke and I'm desperate!!!!

how heavy is the heaviest bench press bar?
The standard Olympic bar is 45 lbs. At my gym, we have bars that are a little thicker diameter than that and they are 50 lbs. Standard non-Olympic weight bars (1 - 1 1/2in diameter) differ in weight depending on length, but much less than Olympic bars, usually 20-25 lbs.

Smart Tips For Using A Hydraulic Vehicle Lift
Hydraulic truck lifts are designed as a safe method of raising various transportation units for different types of repairs and maintenance. Using them incorrectly, however, can be dangerous. Each step involved in using this equipment requires great care and attention to protect yourself and the others around you. Here are a few guidelines you can use when loading, raising, and lowering a hydraulic vehicle lift.
Securing Vehicles On Hydraulic Truck Lifts
To correctly load a hydraulic vehicle lift, be sure the doors are closed tightly, the transmission is sitting in neutral, and the engine is off. You will also want to check to see if there is anything, such as an antenna, that could be damaged when it is completely up in the air. Once that is complete, find the correct locations underneath the lift to hold the auto into place and set the pads into position. You will also want to set up adaptors if you need them.
Before walking away from the area, check the blocks responsible for holding everything in place. The front end of the stand will have permanent chocks. The entrance end will have automatic chocks that you will need to check to be sure that they are up and secure. Even if everything seems okay, be sure to watch for movement and double check the automatic chocks when you start to move the system to be sure that everything is held safely.
Checks Before Raising The Vehicle Lift
Don't make the mistake of raising the equipment all the way at the start. When you start these systems, only raise them until they are fully supported by the truck lifts and then stop. This often works out to around a foot. You can then do a walk around to ensure the support pads are where they need to be and that the load isn't shifting on the supports. Take an extra few seconds to examine the adaptors as well. Having the force exerted in the wrong areas can cause a significant amount of damage to the body and other components of the auto. Continue to test and check the load until there is no doubt in your mind that everything is done correctly. Each time you make an adjustment check everything the same way.
Raising The System
When you are sure it is safe to elevate the load, hoist it up slowly and go slower as you reach the top of the system to avoid jerking the load. Doing this can shift the placement of the load and will loosen the seal on the hoist, which will cause the fluids to start leaking. When it has reached the desired height, stop and lock the system into place.
While a vehicle lift is meant to be a safe way to hoist an auto into the air for easy repairs, using it incorrectly can be downright deadly. To protect yourself and others, make sure to load truck lifts correctly and lift them with care and caution.

How do you lift a truck without using a suspention or body lift kit?

Buy high profile tires. BTW 35 inch tires wont fit on a stock vehicle. You need to get a lift.

Is a Kick Scooter Safer than a Kids Electric Scooter?
You are searching avidly online for a kick scooter for either your child or as a gift for someone else. During your search you keep running across some cheap electric scooters but you're questioning the safety of motor scooters. Let me make this clear – less speed does not equal a safer ride. Ask any parent with a child that rides a skateboard; jumps, grabs, flips and rail riding (a.k.a. "grinding") are just a few risky skateboarding maneuvers exercised on a board no quicker than a kick scooter. In no uncertain terms, the kick scooter can essentially do similar tricks. The metal surface provides an excellent support for grinding and its light aluminum frame is easily hoisted into the air for jumps.
In contrast, kids electric scooters can actually be safer due to the construction. To support and protect the electric motor and batteries, electric motor scooters are normally made out of thicker aluminum. Consequently, there is an increase in weight and rigidity, which will be discussed later in detail. This is not to say that "electric scooters are safer than kick scooters" but the heavy bulk of electric motor scooters limits certain tricks. For instance, jumps, grinds, and flips are dramatically (if not completely) limited due to the weight of electric motor and batteries.
Take for example, the X-Treme X-140 that is restricted to 10 mph but noticeably slower with a load and terrain. It weighs nearly 20 lbs and at full throttle is equivalent to a light jog. The average weight of a six-year old child ranges between 35-40 lbs, meaning that these cheap electric scooters weigh about half the child's weight. The beginner electric motor scooters, such as the X-140, offer a safe speed at which kids can have fun. The important safety measures to remember is wearing protective gear, such as helmets and pads that will protect your child no matter what they ride.
There is a legitimate concern when introducing kids to new toys. We all know that when a child receives a scooter, bike or skateboard their first instinct is not to think of safety. One recommendation would be to purchase the smallest electric scooter for children around the age of six. Cheap electric scooters, like the X-10, are excellent compromises between safety and speed. For older children and especially kids in their teens, the larger capacity scooters X140+ are more viable options. Larger electric scooters offer more power but the rider is usually heavier so the actual speed increase is nominal.
For those parents that really do not mind their son or daughter on a more powerful unit need only buy a larger unit. The X-140 (140 indicating the watts, 140 watts) can easily support a 35-40 lbs child but for more acceleration and power the X-250 will certainly handle the job. A word of caution, the increase in power may only be 5-7 miles per hour on an electric powered scooter. However, the increase in bulk is noticeable and a child's ability to maneuver the unit is compromised. If you are not concerned about the increase in power in bulk, just remember to outfit your child in some type of protective gear.

I would suggest a warn winch. There is a cordless model 24volt with a 15' cable and capacity of 1,000 lbs. Or in your case a corded model.
Platform needs to be engineered to be safe.
You also need some type of latching system to insure your platform and load on it don't go crashing down on something or someone below.
These types of projects often cost lots of $$$.
It's your money, but sounds a little off the wall to me.
Better check your homeowners policy for liability on this lift system and also on coverages for it as well as storing gas engine vehicles on the 2nd level of a dwelling.
