By definition, a “bar code” is optical data which can be read by the scanning device of bar code equipment, which is then interpreted by software. Earlier bar codes used to come in the form of parallel black lines called linear or one-dimensional bar codes. This bar coding equipment component can even scan low-quality or damaged bar codes with outstanding speed and accuracy. The other components of bar code equipment were designed to be mobile, light and compact so for space management purposes.
Bar coding equipment has, indeed, changed the world we live in greatly. Perhaps driven by the need for speedier and more accurate transactions, bar code equipment has become an indispensible part of our day-to-day lives.
