I have rectangular marks on the soft top of my Pontiac Solstice, anyone have the same problem?
I have had my solstice for almost a year and on both the driver and passenger sides there is a mark the shape of a rectangle on the soft top. I finally realized when the top is down there are two pieces of plastic on the inside of the trunk that push down on the top when it is down. I am becoming very concerned about this for cosmetic reasons and because I fear it may actually put a hole in it over time. Has anyone else had this problem or know of any remedies?
Is the rectangle just a crease on the top, or is it actually damaged to the point of having been stretched or scratched?
Best thing to do is take it to a Pontiac dealer for them to look at - While your waiting to get it in, resist the temptation to put the top down. Leave it up so that you do not damage it anymore than it may have already been.
If your under warranty, they'll take a look at the cause and work to fix or alleviate that. For the top itself, a replacement will depend on how permanent the damages are.

How do you remove ink from the inside of a car door?
My daughter wrote on the inside of the back door while riding in her car seat. Any suggestions are appreciated.
I use hair spray to get rid of ball point ink. Just spray it on and blot. Then wash with a mild soap. I think it's the alcohol in the hairspray that makes it dissipate, so rubbing alcohol may work also.

Planning to buy a new car debating betn Honda and Toyota?
I have Chevy cavalier 1997; Giving me enough trouble, 125000 M on it. I am planning to buy a new car. I am debating between Toyota and Honda. I would like to have some feedback on pros and cons. How can I get good money on my Cavalier should I trade in at dealership? Any type of feedback will helpful. Thank you very much for your time to answer some questions.

and between Toyota and Honda i preffer Honda a million times! they are both good engine and mechanic stuff, so either would be good

How many Saturdays a month do you have to work? Is there a schedule or how is this determined?
And are you allowed to go in extra Saturdays to make more money and finish the trainee program quicker? Say 3 Saturdays or even 4 a month?
MTs work about 3 sat. in a month. There is a schedule that they have for you. For example; if the office's hours are 7:30 Am-6p Mon-fri. You are likely to come in at 7a and clock out at 7p. If you are working a sat., you will have to flex during one of the weekdays. Depending on how determine you are, you can complete the program in 9 months.

It doesn't have to be the best school. Just a class at some institute or county college. And about how long would one have to attend?
You can attend a vocational school for about $1000.00 for their course. It would take 1 to 2 years. Depends on your area requirements.

Good brand or website to buy OBDII Code reader?
looking into buying a good code reader for OBDII. i have a Volkswagen, a Vag-com would be the best choice but its really expensive for me right. i am looking into buying a nice simple budget scanner but don't know where to look exactly. i don't really know much on scanners so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I need obd2 my car is 2000. Obd1 is 95 and down. ILL deff. Check out pepboys. And if there are other places I csn check. A simple scan retrieve code, erase.

Mine is an ACTRON scanner. It will scan, show the code number and tell what the code means. Several times it has pointed me in the exact direction. Once in a while it gives me a general idea of where the problem is.
I bought mine at a Pep Boys for around $150.00 on sale. This was several years ago so not sure what they are now. I swear by mine.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
I'm pretty sure any auto parts store would carry them. You might even check out Walmart or Target. They may be cheaper there.
The one I have is model #CP9135. It gives the code # (ie P0170) and below that, tells what it means (ie. Fuel Trim Malfunction, Bank 1) Mine is about 4 or 5 years old. Not sure if they still make this exact model, but it has been a good one.

I just ran a diagnostic on my car but i need some help in non/mechanic terms lol?
Okay my service engine light came on in my neon so i did the diagnostic to get the codes. The codes I got were 12, 21, and 17. This is what it said under the code book:
12 Direct battery input to PCM was disconnected within the last 50 key-on cycles
21 02s sensor problem (oxygen sensor), upstream or down stream
17 Closed loop temp not reached or engine cold too long
What does this mean?
The first one generally means the battery was disconnected recently. the second one means that one of your O2's gave a false reading. Most likely due to the third code. Upstream is before the cat. and downstream is after the cat. The third code means your car took to long to warm up. (check thermostat stuck open)

Does Toyota have a proprietary obd2 reader? It could be from a 3rd party reader.?
I've made up my mind that once I get this 2001 jetta vr6 fixed, I'll sell it and immediately buy either a toyota or honda.
I'm interesting in knowing if toyota has a proprietary obd2 reader similar to what ross-tech has for vw, the vag-com reader. A special proprietary reader allows you to read and test components where as a standard obd2 will not let you test the components.

As far as I know Toyota doesn't have a proprietary one, they still use the OBDII readers. But on the newer Tacomas, they use the OBDII CAN readers to get to the codes. In addition, to get to read the ABS/SRS light there is a proprietary one, not sure if that's what you were looking for in your question.
