How To Pick A Fine Quality Fountain Pen
For the average person pens are simply a tool that is used to write something with. To someone that is a pen collector or lover of pens it holds special meaning to them. If you've ever been able to hold in your hand a nice Sheaffer or Cross pen you will understand that there is no comparison to a typical ball point pen. To own a fine quality fountain pen shows that you have impeccable tastes and quality. So how do you pick a quality pen?
First you need to understand the history of the pen. The fact that the only way you could write was with a pencil or a pen that didn't hold any ink provides you with the innovations that were made by pen manufacturers. Most of the best developments in pen design and use happened after 1900. There are currently three types of pens now: fountain pens, ballpoint pens, and dip pens.
Fountain pens have a nib that is a small piece of metal that can be steel, gold, or gold alloy. It will be diamond shaped with a point for you to write with. There is also a feed that presses the nib and allows the ink that is inside the pen to flow down onto the paper. It should provide a nice even regular flow that doesn't leak. You can find many name brand fountain pens that have luxurious designs or limited editions. The price range varies from a few dollars to many thousands. There are even vintage collections that you might be interested in that are no longer made but still in original shape and packaging.
Many pens were used for calligraphy and special written documentations. In the past it was very tricky to be able to refill your ink in the pen. You had to carry around ink to be able to write. Many were very messy and leaked out of the pen or didn't hold much ink at all. There are now cartridges that are included inside of many fountain pens that alleviate this problem.
Dip pens match their description. You have to continue to dip the pen in a well of ink to write. You were considered someone of great importance if you had a dip pen or fancy fountain pen in your possession. Today pens are bought as luxury purchases rather than as essential items.
If you decide that owning a fine fountain pen is a requirement then you should figure out your price range, and what type of design that you want. Many companies will provide pens in more than one basic color so you might be able to get something besides basic black. The next thing to decide upon is your choice of nib. If you want superior quality then you don't want a plain steel nib. Try something with 18k gold and a special engraving. If money is not an option then picking a vintage or limited edition pen may be the perfect choice for you.

instores the bottom one cost more but i dont know why can anyone inform me what makes the bottom one better and why and is it a dramtic diffrence or should i just get the top one that is cheaper
There is no difference except for price and model. as long as you have a ceramic flatiron with a dial(200-450) then it wont damage your hair unless you have it up too high.

Quietfire Design Broad-Edged Calligraphy Nib Introduction
Limited Edition
Limited Edition

Limited Editions in Films, Music and Photography : Fact or Fiction?
The exponential growth in digital technologies in the past 20 years has revolutionised the market for the reproduction of art through digital means. This applies to the visual arts in film of photography, as well as in music. Re-mastered versions of old - and no so old - movies, of classic albums and of archetypal images in photography are all now common currency, and the market for such images has been revolutionary.
But with this revolution has come a proliferation of terms to describe the various versions of the source material and for the wannabee collector of fine art reproductions (for example) it becomes increasingly vital to understand the genuine investment opportunity and the marketing-driven hype.
So what are the terms currently in use to define the additional value of a classic or popular image or movie? Terms used in collectible popular culture include concepts such as "special", "deluxe" or "limited edition". These terms are often market-driven, selling the same basic product by marketing improved versions of film DVDs, music and video games. That this can sometimes simply be a matter of adjusting the packaging has an implied danger of demeaning the idea of "limited edition" away from it's root meaning and value.
The term "collector's edition" is also used. This again is a term which can be applied to various media such as books, prints or recorded music and films. But it can also apply to cars or motorcycles for example. A "collector's edition" implies that the number of copies produced is restricted; but the restriction can stop at a very high number indeed, and this needs to be known and understood.
Modern technology has changed the controls available to the concept of a Limited Edition. In early days of printing and print reproduction of images, traditional printmaking techniques could only produce a small number of top quality images before wear-and-tear on the plate (especially in some etching techniques and in drypoint printing) took it's toll. This meant that longer print runs delivered passable but inferior quality images. To limit the print run was a necessity, which modern digital technology does not have to face.
Thus it is important for would-be collectors to research the provenance of any limited edition in the digital age. Naturally, some collectors have a great desire to have all released editions of a personal favourite, or a classic piece. This in itself has its own value of course. However, where the need is to understand the intrinsic, stand-alone value of an individual limited edition item, then the provenance becomes vital in assessing the investment value.
In the case of photographic reproductions, the original artist's print, carefully produced directly from his work, and printed under the artists' supervision are those which attract value over time. The most common way of producing collectable prints in the modern digital era is to scan the original negative (in the case of images from traditional photographic tools), or balancing a digital file from a digital camera, then output the image, usually retouched, on specially-selected media types using archival inks. Thus very fine quality coated papers can be used to make delicate, beautiful prints in defined limited numbers, which can be certified and verified as authentic. In this way, genuine investment opportunities can be realised.

How long do Japanese limited edition CDs stay on sale?
I am going to Japan in a few weeks, and there are at least two CDs that I want to buy, but they go on sale a week before I get there. How long will I be able to buy the limited edition ones?
If you're going one week after it's released, you should be fine. Just make sure you shop in a major city because they're more likely to have more copies in stock.

The Audi Q5 -- an Elegant Compact Crossover
Built by the German automaker Audi, the Q5 is somewhat of a compact crossover which lays the foundation for the Q7, this model is yet to be released as a 2009 version and it is being built using the modular longitudinal platform which is also referred to ask MLP, this same technology was also featured in the A5 coupe.
The new vehicle will be built in Ingolstadt as other models before. It will require an investment of around US$400 million. The Q5 will also be produced in Changchun, China to compete with other mid class vehicles on the Chinese markett. Despite a similar concept car named "Audi Cross Cabriolet quattro" shown at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2007, the first public available introduction of the new Q5 was at the Beijing Auto Show on the 19th April 2008. It features a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, a hybrid petrol/electric is also expected to developed. When it comes to the transmission, this vehicle counts with a six speed automatic one which controls the 4 Wheel Drive system. Cha
According to its design it is able to compete with similar vehicles from different manufacturing houses such as the Infinity EX (by Nissan), the Acura RDX (by Honda), the Mercedes-Benz GLK-class, the Volvo XC60 and the BMW X3 built by the manufacturer with the same name.
At the moment the engine configurations are somewhat limited however, in the future it is expected to become available as a hybrid (gasoline and electric), a gasoline and petrol version and as a turbocharged direct injection vehicle also known as TDI.
Harmon/Becker Automotive Systems will produce the the German Automaker's new Multi-Media Interface (MMI) technology. It will be available for the first time in the Audi Q5. The system will probably offer navigation, communication, and not to forget wide-screen entertainment. Nvidia (known for it's computer graphic cards) presented a new concept of processors recently. Those are based on their computer graphic card technology. This technology is also used in scientific computers because the chips are potentially 20 times faster than Intel's pentium processors. One of them will be the base for the new MMI system, allowing generation of smooth map transitions when driving. With the technology a 3D orientation map with true-to-scale terrain and photo realistic depictions of key landmarks is made possible in cars for the first time. Finally with the new system Audi implements features including USB storage media (iPod and MP3), satellite radio and blue tooth.
Expected delivery dates to dealers are late Summer 2008 for Europe, and early 2009 in North America as a 2009 year model. Future powertrain options for the United States market have yet to be announced.
The Quattro Four-Wheel Drive:
This system is one-of-a-kind because it controls all four wheels asymmetrically, it means that if one of the tires is in danger of losing grip the system will redistribute the power among the rest of the wheels in order to restore the control to the driver as well as to minimize accidents. The Quattro Four-Wheel Drive system is now available not only in the Q5 but also in other Audi models for around 5000-1000 US $.

Harmonic Balancer on a Acura Legend? Is the retaining bolt right, or left hand threads?
I'm working on a 95 Acura with a 3.2-V, type II Honda engine. I need to know if the bolt that holds the torsional damper (harmonic balancer) on, is right hand, or left hand threads? If you know the answer, please let me know. If you don't know, or are not 100% sure, then please don't answer the question.
Thanks!!!
I have broke a 3ft. S&K breaker bar, tried an impact wrench (won't move), and I'm beginning to think its posessed!!! Next, I will try a big truck impact wrench (3/4 drive), and that will move it, or break it one.
A 2.5l inline 5 is the ONLY Acura with left handed thread. And Yes I am 100% sure. Good Luck.

Hobbyist Storage
Hobbyist Storage

Photo Storage Devices As New Photo Ambum
In the past, people used photo albums to store photographs in and this served people well for many years. These were portable devices that could be displayed on coffee tables and shared with many people that visited. The opportunities for sharing photos have dramatically changed over the years and they will probably expand even further if electronic wizards have anything to say about it.
Some of the devices that people choose to store photographs in are memory cards, personal computers and on the internet at many of the new photograph storage facilities. People lean toward the latter because the storage services that are offered are free of charge and are just as convenient to use as the other devices that store photo images just as well.
Some people prefer to use the memory cards for storage of the photos because these cards were made to fit into the cameras that the person owns. These electronic photograph storage devices are very portable too because they are small enough to fit in the palm or in the pocket of any outfit that the photo enthusiast has on that day. The photographs on the memory cards can be transferred to many places or left on the memory card until there is no memory left for further storage.
Many digital cameras are equipped with ports that allow photos to be transferred onto many devices or they can be printed out on a home printer. These photo printers will usually come with software that allows the photo hobbyist to transfer images from the digital camera into a printer memory bank and in most cases the printer will store the images in photo storage facilities that are pre-loaded onto the home computer system.
The digital camera can also be used as a photo or video storage facility but the memory in the camera will be used up very quickly if some of those images are not transferred to some other form of digital media. The photos are usually stored with a file extension that ends with .jpg and this file extension makes these photos candidates for storage on computers or attaching them in emails.
Some people will use the email systems to store photos because the storage limits on many websites is very limited and some require a small fee per month to store photos on the sites. This charge is for the amount of space that is used on the servers that they use for other things online like games and music stations. Some people do not mind paying these fees because they know that the photos they cherish will be safe.

There was a colony with one condition, they were never to extract venom from hobbyists, foragers, or producers. But one person couldn't resist. That person saw a forager and decided to emerge from a storage room. They insterted the nectar into the forager's shoulder framesa, but the forager couldn't react.... for he was already dead.

Can It Be? Privity Of Contract Is Back!
Dust off those old law school books and turn of the century cases: privity of contract is making a comeback in Michigan!
Privity of contract, historically was a bar to certain tort law suits, such as product liability and professional liability cases filed by injured persons against other parties with whom they had no direct contractual relationship.
In 1916, the Seminal New York case of McPherson v Buick Motor Co. (1), triggered a major retreat in the country from privity of contract in product liability and professional liability cases, among others. In Michigan, privity disappeared as a viable defense for product liability and professional liability suits between the late 1950's and mid-1970's (2). While privity of contract still lived on in certain situations such as for claims of innocent misrepresentation (3), or malicious prosecution against an attorney (4), modern litigators by and large considered it an out dated and rarely viable way to contest claims.
This began to change in 2004 when the Michigan Supreme Court issued a surprisingly broad ruling in a simple slip and fall on ice case, resurrecting the privity of contract defense in ordinary tort cases. Fultz v Union-Commercial Associates (5). The Court held that a snow removal contractor hired by the parking lot owner could not be sued by the injured plaintiff who had no contractual relationship with the contractor in the absence of proof that the contractor assumed a duty separate and distinct from the duties it assumed under its contract with the owner.
Finding that there was no separate and distinct duty, the court held that the snow removal contractor owed no duty of care to the injured plaintiff.
Several cases since Fultz have followed its holding in ordinary negligence and injury cases. However, some panels of the Michigan Court of Appeals have also applied Fultz to professionals and construction managers in unpublished opinions (6).
In 2006, in Matrix Construction, LLC v Barton Malow, et al (7), the Court of Appeals, applying the Fultz ruling limited the prior rulings of Bacco and National Sand (2), which had allowed suits against professionals without privity of contract. The Matrix court held that privity of contract was not required only if a design deficiency was at issue and privity did apply to claims involving construction management services.
Later that year the Court of Appeals again applied the Fultz case rationale and held that a consulting engineer could not be sued by a third party without proof of privity of contract or the assumption of a duty independent from the contractual duties owed by the engineer to the owner. See Wallington v City of Mason, et al(8).
In 2005 another Court of Appeals panel had held in favor of the professional hired by the township against a claim by a contractor for failure to discover defects in a sewer system during inspections. The court, in New Dimension Development Inc v Orchard Hiltz & McClinet Inc (9), found no duty owed by the professional in claims sounding in negligence, fraud, or negligent and innocent misrepresentation.
In December, 2007, another panel of the Michigan Court of Appeals in Burton v Suretitle, et. al.(10), followed Fultz again in holding that a Title Company acting as a real estate closing agent could not be sued by the purchaser in tort, because there was no privity of contract.
Will privity of contract regain its lofty stature in Michigan from over a half century ago to become a dominant defense and barrier to product liability, construction defect and professional liability claims? The trend suggests it will. Until published Court of Appeals or Michigan Supreme Court decisions confirm the application of the Fultz doctrine in those areas we will not be sure, but privity seems to have been resuscitated and is alive, breathing and kicking.
1. MacPherson v Buick Motor Co, 217 N.Y. 382, 111 N.E. 1050 (1916).
2. Bacco Construction Co v American Colloid Co, 148 Mich App 397; 384 NW2d 427 (1986) revsd on other grounds, 204 Mich App 445 (1994); National Sand Inc v Nagel Construction Co, 182 Mich App 327; 451 NW2d 618 (1990);Piercefield v Remington Arms Co, 375 Mich 85; 133 NW2d 129 (1965); Spence v Three Rivers Builders & Masonry Supply Inc, 353 Mich 120, 90 NW2d 873 (Mich, 1958).
3. Forge v Smith, 458 Mich 198, 580 NW2d 876 (1998) privity required for innocent misrepresentation claim; U S F&G Co v Black, 412 Mich 99, 118-119, 313 NW2d 77 (1981); Chimko v Shermeta, 2006 WL 2060417 (Mich App, 2006).
4. Mich AFSCME Council 25 v Livingston County Road Commission, 2007 WL 3357398 (Mich App, 2007) privity required to sue attorney except for fraud or malicious prosecution.
5. Fultz v Union Commerce Associates, 470 Mich 460 (2004).
6. Unpublished opinions of the Court of Appeals do not have precedential authority in Michigan, but their reasoning may be adopted and applied by other courts.
7. 2006 WL 399762 (Mich App, 2006). Also see the trial court ruling in Llangs Group v Barton Malow Co, 2006 WL 3950939 (Oak Ct Cir Ctm 1/12/06). However, a federal court continued to apply the Bacco and National Sand line of cases in RMF Nooter, Inc v Gleeson Constructors, LLC, 2006 WL 3290126 (W.D. Mi, 2006). It does not appear that the Fultz case was considered by the Court.

Hamish Imlach - McPherson's Farewell
Street Bike
Street Bike

Dirt Bikes – the Smart on Road Vehicle
The Dirt Bikes are the fastest dirt fighters on road. Also known as Trails Bikes, these roadrunners are extremely light in weight and are perfectly constructed for unpaved, cross country, rough or uneven terrains.
To meet the purpose, Dirt motorcycle is provided with rugged tires and suspension. Their engine power is smaller in comparison to typical street bikes, ranging less than 500cc. With two-stroke and four-stroke engines, the bike is an epitome of power on road.
Dirt motorcycle comes in several varieties and the most popular are those, which are manufactured by leading companies like KTM, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki, Husqvarna and Husaberg. Dirt motor bikes are in most cases meant to run on rough tracks and are just suitable for off-road competitions such as Motorcross. Most Dirt products manufactured by the well-known companies are light and well-built with knobby tires for utmost grip and balance.
What makes a Dirt Bike different from a common street bike?
It is the suspension, which creates the distinction. Moreover, the Knobbies or deep treads on the tires of Dirt motor bikes provide a better traction through sand, dirt, mud or gravel. The level of the engine is a bit higher that successfully hinders several ground obstructions like rocks and boulders. Moreover, the gas tank of the bike has been carefully set up in the middle portion of the bike for superior balance.
It is significant for you to know that the US Department of Motor Vehicles once every year registers a green sticker for Dirt motor bikes since the bikes do not have license plates. Moreover, bikes of the Dirt variety are not meant for city streets because they mainly run on off-road tracks.
Like other bike varieties, when you purchase a Dirt bicycle, you do expect longevity and superior performance. At the same time, you should keep in mind that anything material lasts only long when properly maintained and preserved. The same goes with dirt bicycles.
Do not feel contented if the brake pads look good, for good looks are often deceiving. The pads are often contaminated with dirt, soap and other chemical impurities. This causes considerable deterioration in the friction material of the pad. Therefore, a time-to-time replacement of the pads is absolutely essential. The other parts of the Dirt motorbike that require periodical care and checking include the engine of the bike which can be either four-stroke or two-stroke engine, the tires of the bike along with cables, chain and sprockets, linkage bearing, throttle and axles.
The leading manufacturers of Dirt have recently flooded the market with exclusive bike models. Therefore, more and more both professionals and novices are trying their best to get hold of the best possible models for a wonderful wondrous ride.
The other variety that is the kid’s mini Dirt motorcycle is also quite in demand. These minis have all parts of regular sized Dirts. It is only that they appear smaller and weigh much less for the kid’s to handle. Though this specific bike comes in a miniature form, it is in no way child’s play stuff. The machine should be only handled by those with sense of responsibility and those having a proper knowledge about the pros and cons of this machine.
Therefore, now it is time for you to rule the dirt with Dirt bike dynamites.

I am selling a street bike engine on ebay, How can I ship something so heavy?
I have been selling dirtbike parts online for some time now, and a good old 250cc engine is pretty easy to ship. But I just picked up a street bike for the first time and the engine is like 4 times as big and heavy (750cc). How can I ship this out? Do I need to put it on a pallet and have UPS pick it up or what? Thanks!
UPS will not ship it. You will have to use one of the Motor Freight Carriers. See what trucking Compies serve your area. You will also probably have to deliver it to there local terminal as most of them do not make home deliveries or pick ups.
