what if a vehicle is struck by lightning?
Will the passenger die? For ex. in a bus? in a sedan? in an SUV? What will happen?!
I was imagining this because when I was in a bus, it was raining hard. There were flashes of lightning and it is scary. I had this thought for quite some time now. What will happen if it hits us? The vehicle that I was in? Are cars lightning proof? What cars are lightning proof? Overall this is about vehicles and lightning -- its protection against it maybe? Thanks.thanks
There are a lot of factors involved in a valid answer. Is the car metal or fiberglass? Wet or dry?
In most cases, in a metal vehicle the charge is conducted over the car's surface, turning it into a Faraday cage, safe for occupants who do not contact the outside. (Hands in lap, roll up the windows.)

Choosing the correct pneumatic tool
Selecting the correct pneumatic tool for a task enhances productivity greatly, improves quality control, and increases profits, reports Bellambie Mining and Industrial marketing manager Dudley Ward.
"To ensure optimum performance and extended operating life of pneumatic tools, proper selection, installation, use and regular maintenance is critical," adds Ward.
Correct lubrication is one of the most important elements in the economic operation and maintenance of air tools.
To avoid tool failure, devices should be lubricated daily through the air inlet of multivane air motors and air hammers, or through air-line filters and lubricators.
Optimum pneumatic-tool performance also depends on a supply of clean, dry air at the correct pressure; while the tool is running, lower air pressure is recommended for screwdrivers.
Although a moisture trap and line filter effectively eliminate moisture and grit particles from the air, a compressor of adequate capacity and full-size air-supply lines are necessary to obtain optimum performance from pneumatic tools.
Suitable hose and fittings are also important in order to avoid air and pressure loss, and to facilitate speedy coupling and changing of air tools.
Sapco, which forms part of Bellambie Mining and Industrial's automotive division, has been the sole distributor of Uryu pneumatic tools in Southern Africa for the past 20 years.
The tools, including bolt and nut setters, screwdrivers, abrasive tools, drills and tappers, as well as percussion tools and accessories, are available nationally from its outlets, which also offer a technical advisory and back-up service.
This range is assembled in Japan with precision-machined components, surpassing world-class standards.
Bellambie has introduced a new Uryu torque-measuring system to the market, designed to measure precisely the dynamic torque of oil-pulse and stall-type tools.
These UMS transducers, which are ideal for use in quality-control areas and workshop test facilities, consist of non-contact, magnetostrictive rotating transducers and a torque auditor, which provides automatic data storage and analysis of up to 1 000 readings.
To create a positive magnetostrictive effect when the transducer is excited under a load, grooves in two regions of the anvil surface are provided at about 45.
Part of Bellambie Mining & Industrial's automotive division, Sapco, has extended its range of pneumatic tools to include the new Alpha series, which is the fifth generation in Uryu's range of oil-pulse mechanism assembly tools.
The Alpha series has a nine-blade double-chamber air motor which produces a 50% higher power-to-weight ratio than tools of the same physical size, which use a conventional single-chamber air motor, explains Bellambie marketing manager Dudley Ward.
The range offers free speeds of between 3 100 r/min and 5 500 r/min, with minimal power ripple.
The double-blade pulse mechanism enables tools to cope efficiently with various tightening tasks, and to easily manage soft and hard joint conditions.
Bolt seating is efficiently performed, and torque spike on hard-joint applications, caused by spinning of the anvil, is reduced to a minimum.
Benefits during operation include low noise, reduced vibration and virtually no torque reaction.
Average air consumption is between 0,25 m3/min and 0,7 m3/min, depending on the model used, and efficient motor power provides optimum cycle time for different joint conditions.
This pneumatic tool has an advanced ergonomic design – a single hand-operation reverse lever enables easy forward/reverse movement, and an anti-vibration handle jacket provides perfect palm-fitting for the operator, enhancing comfort and safety.

if your going to be using air tools alot get an automatic oiler for hose. yes you can use at fluid only thing is the vescosity of oil dont use it all the time but in a pinch it will work.

-ACRYLIC PAINT
Acrylic or Water based paint, is the most commonly used paint for walls and ceilings throughout your house. The paint is fast drying, often nearly odor free, and nowadays it has very low VOC levels
-OIL BASED PAINT
Oil Based or Enamel paint is most commonly used for doors, skirts and windows, this is a hard wearing paint, but it does have a high odor level, a long drying time and it will yellow with age. It also needs to be cleaned up with mineral turps or thinners and often has high levels of VOC's.
-WATER BASED ENAMEL
Water based Enamel is fairly new to the market place and is a great way to achieve the high gloss look of an enamel with out the smell, long drying time, or the yellowing effect that you get from an enamel over the long time, though it does not have the hardness of a traditional oil based product.
-FLAT PAINTS
Flat paints are most commonly used on ceilings, some people still use them on their walls for the hiding power, though I would recommend a low sheen for walls as a flat will mark and scuff very easily and is not as washable as the higher gloss level paints.
-LOW SHEEN/ACCENT PAINTS
Low Sheen paint is most commonly used for walls. It is suitable for all rooms in your house except, laundries, kitchens and bathrooms, it is washable and still has some decent hiding power.
-SEMI GLOSS/SATIN PAINTS
Semi Gloss paints are much more washable than low sheen or flat finishes but it does not have the same hiding power as low sheen or flat paints, it is commonly used in Kitchens, Laundries and Bathrooms because of its higher moisture resistance and ease of cleaning.
-GLOSS PAINTS
Gloss paints are mostly used for doors, architraves, and windows. This paint has a high moisture resistance level and is highly washable. It will show up any imperfections in the surface, so it is important to make sure that you have prepared the surfaces properly first before applying it.

Can I use Interior Alkyd Enamel paint as a primer for an Interior Acrylic Latex paint?
I want to paint over some ugly wallpaper in my sunroom and decided that I should probably prime with white. The wallpaper is light anyways, but then, so is my colour I've chosen to paint.
SO: to be on the safe side I'm going to paint the walls white first. I found a can of Interior Alkyd Enamel (semi-gloss finish) white paint. Can I paint this on first, then go over with my new can of (coloured) Interior Acrylic Latex (eggshell finish)???
I'm not looking to enter any decorating contests, so it doesn't need to be GORGEOUS! I just want it to look decent-to-nice.

Hi. No you can't use the Alkyd enamel as a primer. It is an oil based paint & you cannot paint latex over it. The paint would just peel off. Primer isn't expensive and if you go to your local hardware store explain to them what you want to paint & they will get you the best one for your project. You can use oil over latex but not the other way around. You could also just put 2 or 3 coats of the paint you have over the wallpaper. If you ever plan on taking the wallpaper off I recommend you doing it before you paint as you will never get it off later. Good luck

Increase Performance and Leadership Through Emotional Intelligence
Emotional intelligence (EI), http://www.ihhp.com/, is the capacity for effectively recognizing and managing our own emotions and those of others. We can either leverage emotions – to make the most of our important business and personal relationships – or ignore them with potentially damaging results.

Does anybody know what the plastic tool inside a Vauxhall Astra's fuel filler door is?
It's a strange shaped plastic tool on the hinge of the fuel filler door on both the Mk4 and Mk5.
Can't see any mention in the handbook of either Astra.
Only had a look on diesels... may be there on petrols too.
Any ideas anyone?
